The moment the Lightning Treasures pierced Sanjuan Wolf's skin, they sank into his body and vanished, leaving only a bloody hole behind.
But against Sanjuan Wolf's enormous body, those dozen or so Lightning Treasures were no bigger than toothpicks. Aside from numbing him and making him stumble, they had done little damage.
Sanjuan Wolf got to his feet and looked at Werther with disdain.
"What Thunder Swordsman? Without your sword, you're a tiger with its teeth pulled. Die."
Sanjuan Wolf raised his bare palm and swung it down at Werther.
Sanjuan Wolf might have been clumsy, but his strength was not to be underestimated. A direct hit would be dangerous.
Werther ignored the attack. He stood motionless on the King of Dragons' back, merely snapping his fingers. His familiar smile appeared at the corner of his mouth.
Thump, thump, thump.
Muffled booms, like the beating of a drum, sounded inside Sanjuan Wolf. Bulges rose across his chest, as though something within him were pushing outward.
The booms soon stopped, and his chest returned to normal. But the palm descending toward Werther froze in midair.
"What is this? Why—" Sanjuan Wolf spat out a mouthful of blood before he could finish. Fragments of his organs were mixed in with it.
Boom.
Sanjuan Wolf dropped onto his backside and began gasping for air. Each breath rattled like a broken bellows, while blood kept spilling from the corners of his mouth.
Werther did not attack again. Intent Blood was absorbing Sanjuan Wolf's life force. Once it returned to his hand, it would pass the life force it had stored on to him.
