After failing to find Carmensen Silver Fox, Werther continued up the mountain.
Since the avalanche had swept Carmensen Silver Fox away, there was nothing he could do. She hadn't run off on purpose, so he wasn't going to hold it against her.
"Help... I'm... I'm in the snow..."
The broken voice came from beneath the snow at his feet. Werther's expression turned strange.
Carmensen Silver Fox really was something else. She didn't even know how to dodge an avalanche.
Werther followed the voice and soon spotted a pair of feet. The avalanche had hurled Carmensen Silver Fox into a snow pit, leaving her dangling upside down. The soft snow beneath her gave her nothing to push against, and the more she struggled, the deeper she sank. Her legs kept kicking wildly. It was almost too funny.
For a moment, Werther considered leaving her there. Then he wouldn't have to drag her along or worry about her leaking his plans.
But they had made a deal. Werther grabbed one of Carmensen Silver Fox's ankles and hauled the knight out upside down.
Carmensen Silver Fox was a mess. Snow filled the gaps in her clothes, and half-melted snow clung to her face. Werther even saw droplets of water.
"Thank you. I'm so grateful. I thought I'd be stuck there."
After brushing the snow from herself, Carmensen Silver Fox hurried after Werther, who had already walked ahead.
"I'm going to the summit to capture someone. Wait nearby, and don't wander off."
Werther's face remained expressionless. He had entered a familiar state, as though he were back in his days as an assassin at Sword Intent Hall.
"Okay. I won't go anywhere. I'll do whatever you say."
Right now, Carmensen Silver Fox could only describe Werther as terrifying. The knight wisely chose to cooperate.
