Werther went on guard. He absolutely could not let Marco's last move touch him.
An injury to a limb would be bad enough—he might lose an arm or a leg. But if it struck his torso or head, he would die.
Marco was not particularly fast, though. As long as Werther was careful, he could dodge. Besides, he did not believe Marco could use that ability without limit.
Werther charged without hesitation, sending several Thunderballs toward Marco at the same time.
"Electromagnetic Barrier: Thunder Ball!"
Crackle! A Thunderball burst against Marco, paralyzing him.
Werther would not waste such a perfect opening. He did not know why Marco had been paralyzed so easily, but an opening was an opening.
In just two seconds, Werther unleashed dozens of slashes, leaving bloody lines across Marco's body.
When the two seconds were up, Marco regained control of his body. He was about to retreat when Werther gave a cold smile.
Another Thunderball burst against Marco. To his horror, he saw more than a dozen of them spinning rapidly around Werther, protecting him while repeatedly paralyzing Marco.
One Thunderball followed another. Marco remained paralyzed for a full thirty seconds before he finally broke free.
If Marco had not been able to heal so quickly and regenerate through his Blue Flames, Werther would have cut him into a heap of flesh in that time.
At the last moment, Werther gathered a dazzling mass of Lightning in his hand and pressed it against Marco's chest.
Strangely, the Lightning vanished the instant it touched Marco's chest, doing him no harm at all.
Werther was not surprised. It had never been an attack; he had another purpose.
He drew Intent Blood, the sword at his waist that had remained sheathed until now, and drove it deep into Marco's chest.
