Night gradually fell. After eating some jerky, Werther continued to wait quietly outside Wano Country.
He had decided not to abduct any of the fishermen or Samurai. Doing so might alert the guards at the city gate.
Wano Country was closed to outsiders. Its fishermen and the guards who protected them were probably familiar faces at the gate. If any of them suddenly went missing, someone might notice.
For now, Werther only wanted to catch a Samurai and pry some information out of him.
He waited. Since the fishermen had left their boats at the Pier, someone would surely come to watch them—either a Samurai or another fisherman. A fisherman seemed more likely.
The fishing boats at the Pier looked battered, but ships were precious in the Pirate World.
Sure enough, less than half an hour later, three Samurai emerged from the city gate.
They walked slowly, their faces full of resentment. Guarding the boats was clearly an unpopular duty in Wano Country.
"What the hell is wrong with Imaki? He's made me guard the Pier for a whole week straight."
The complaint came from the youngest of the three Samurai.
An older Samurai beside him jumped at the outburst.
"Nakahayashi Sa, do you have a death wish? Imaki is a retainer of the Kozuki Family. Do you want to be impaled?"
Nakahayashi Sa shuddered at the mention of impalement. He was clearly afraid of it.
"Come on, you can't blame Nakahayashi Sa for being angry. He's still so young, and they've assigned him to guard fishing boats."
The three walked away, grumbling and consoling one another, unaware of the watcher nearby.
Werther smiled as he watched them go.
They were perfect targets. The three would likely take turns on watch through the night, giving him a chance to catch
