At seven o'clock the next morning, Werther's eyes snapped open. He had been fast asleep, but he sat up at once.
He could let his guard down somewhere safe, but not in Wano Country.
Werther usually had trouble getting out of bed, but today he rose on time. After washing up and dressing, he left the shabby inn.
The streets were no longer as deserted as they had been the night before. Amid vendors' cries and the jumble of conversations, the people of Wano Country began their busy day.
Werther had no intention of staying long in Wano Country, so he resumed his search for a route to the Daimyo's Residence.
Instead of wandering blindly as he had the night before, he casually scanned the crowd for someone suitable to follow.
He did not risk asking for directions. In a place as small as Wano Country, that would be unusual. Its residents were hardly likely to get lost.
The people of Wano Country dressed differently from those outside it. Men and women alike wore kimonos.
Men's kimonos tended to be plain, mostly gray or white, while women's were usually pink or pale blue.
These commoners were clearly not the people Werther needed to follow. He was probably still in the slums, and they were unlikely to leave the area.
Before long, Werther found a target: a pair of armored samurai. Their black iron armor stood out in the crowd.
They belonged to a squad of some kind, probably a patrol tasked with keeping order in the slums.
Werther followed at a distance. The samurai were clearly taking a set route, and they knew the slums well.
After following them for about an hour, Werther noticed that the buildings around him were much cleaner and the streets had grown more even.
