Count Patrick Redfield had once been a name that struck fear across the seas. He came from Roger's era.
He had one defining trait: he trusted no one. To the Red Count, relying on companions was a sign of weakness. That was why people called him "Red the Aloof" or "the Red Count."
The Red Count built no organization and roamed the seas alone. As a pirate from Roger's era, he had naturally crossed paths with the Roger Pirates and the Whitebeard Pirates in battle.
Even facing an entire pirate crew on his own, he had never been at a disadvantage. That alone showed how powerful he was.
Werther suspected, though, that the Red Count had not literally fought an entire crew at once.
When the strongest fighters clashed, everyone else lacked the strength to intervene.
It had been the same when Werther stormed Marine Headquarters alone. Tens of thousands of marines could only watch, unable to join the fight.
Among the Roger Pirates, only Rayleigh and Gaban could have intervened. Among the Whitebeard Pirates, perhaps only Marco could have.
Even so, the Red Count's strength was monstrous. Unfortunately for him, his luck had been terrible.
After fighting Commander-in-Chief Kong, the Red Count had been so exhausted that Garp subdued him. He was then thrown into Impel Down.
Blackbeard later freed him by chance while recruiting companions in Impel Down. After that, the Red Count vanished without a trace.
Werther pulled himself from his thoughts. There was no need to worry about the Red Count yet. He already had an enemy of comparable strength to deal with: Antonio Edwin.
"Should we make a move now? I want to see how strong he is."
Anita thought for a moment.
"Not yet. Let me find out more about him before we decide.
