On the Grand Line, at Baltigo, the White Soil Island.
When Loa arrived, the entire island was deserted. Even for the [Censored] Army's remote headquarters, it was eerily quiet. As far as he could see, the ground was blanketed in white. It was not snow, of course. True to the island's name, its soil was mixed with a peculiar white substance.
But the island was not as quiet as it appeared. Loa sensed powerful life signs hidden in tunnels beneath the ground. Among them were people he had marked, all watching his every move through Surveillance Den Den Mushi.
Loa sighed. "Come on, couldn't someone at least come out to greet me? Do you think I can't sink this island, or are you betting I wouldn't dare?"
Gulp.
Even through a video feed, the murderous aura rolling off Loa put everyone on edge. But staying hidden was an order from their leader, Monkey D. Dragon. No matter what Loa threatened, they would not disobey.
Dragon had no intention of letting Loa sink the island, though. Nor did he doubt that the man could do it.
Dragon stepped out from behind a large boulder and faced Loa alone. "Sorry. I can't completely trust you yet, so I had to make sure no enemies followed you here."
Loa spread his hands. "I gave you all that fighting power, and you still doubt me? Can't people have a little more faith in each other?"
"If fighting power were all there was to it..."
Dragon left it at that, unwilling to dwell on the matter. Hack, a pale-faced Fish-Man, suddenly climbed out of a tunnel and whispered something in his ear.
Loa heard him clearly. Hack was reporting that, aside from Loa, there was no one else within hundreds of miles of the island.
