With a few sharp pops, crimson flames burst from the island and rose high on the wind. Red light flickered against the black night sky like stars on a midsummer night.
Scarlet flames danced across the island. The fire raged without mercy, racing with the wind and devouring everything in its path.
Zephyr had already destroyed the island with a Dyna Stone, but the flames had yet to die. They continued to burn, filling the air with scorching heat.
Several warships lay not far from the island. A tall, slender man stood aboard one of them.
He had curly black hair and wore a yellow-and-white striped suit. A ring of stubble framed his face. Gazing through his sunglasses at the island's raging fire, he sighed. "Oh dear, I didn't make it in time. I'll have to report this to Headquarters. What a headache."
He pulled a black Den Den Mushi from his coat and, without looking at it, held it near his mouth. "Hello! Hello! Hello!"
There was no answer. He looked surprised. "Huh. That's strange. Why isn't anyone at Headquarters responding?"
"Admiral Kizaru, you picked up the wrong Den Den Mushi again," a marine said helplessly. The black Den Den Mushi couldn't make calls at all. The Admiral made this mistake so often that they were used to it.
