"You're Arlong?"
Once everyone around them had left, Colonel Nezumi looked Arlong over carefully and couldn't help drawing a sharp breath.
The Fish-Man before him was tall and broad, built like a terrifying Fierce Beast. He had a long nose and a mouthful of Serrated Saw fangs, and he carried a great Serrated Saw sword in his hand. A chilling gleam ran along its broad blade.
Just standing there, Arlong filled Colonel Nezumi with dread. His calves began trembling beyond his control.
Arlong nodded and curled his lip in disdain. "I'm the captain of the Arlong Pirates. I've only just arrived, but I heard you're in charge around here. Naturally, I came to introduce myself."
With a wave of his hand, Arlong signaled Obi, Octopus Hachi, and the others behind him. They hurriedly set treasure chests down one by one before Colonel Nezumi.
Colonel Nezumi hastily tore his gaze away from Arlong. He rushed to the chests and bent to open one.
A dazzling array of light flashed before his eyes. The chest was packed with gold, silver, jewels, jade, agate, and cat's-eye gems. The glittering colors nearly blinded Nezumi.
Nezumi was so delighted he could barely contain himself. He opened the remaining chests, and every one was filled with valuables.
"Hmph..."
Arlong smiled disdainfully at Colonel Nezumi's greedy expression. A cold glint slipped through his eyes.
He had never liked humans. He could kill someone like Colonel Nezumi with a flick of his finger. But Arlong had only just arrived in the East Blue, and he knew a money-grubber like this could spare him plenty of unnecessary trouble.
"These are all for me?"
Colonel Nezumi was entranced by the treasure, beside himself with joy. It took him a while to remember there were other people in the room.
