"Gu Technique?"
As he lay in bed that night, Ye Chen's thoughts drifted to Diana and Klyde, whom he had met on Horror Island. Those two had been so powerful, yet someone had controlled them. When he had used Mind Reading on Klyde, he had learned that the person who planted the Gu in them was a terrifyingly powerful old monster.
"The Worm-Worm Fruit?"
That ability also reminded Ye Chen of the Gu Technique of the Southern Border. "I wonder if my Martial Arts Compendium has anything on it?"
Muttering to himself, Ye Chen entered a meditative state. Something like a game interface appeared in his mind, packed with so many martial arts that the sight made his head spin. He searched carefully and really did find the Gu Technique.
Gu Technique and Poison Arts were both classified under Dark Arts. Neither was exactly an honorable discipline; they belonged to the unorthodox arts.
Gu were poisonous creatures raised by human hands. Planting Gu was a mysterious form of witchcraft handed down from ancient times. It had once been so rampant in the Southern Border that people turned pale at its mention; no one could hear of the Gu Technique without feeling afraid.
There were twelve types of Gu: Snake Gu, Golden Silkworm Gu, Bamboo-Sliver Gu, Stone Gu, Loach Gu, Harm-Bringing Spirit, Malnutrition Gu, Swelling Gu, Madness Gu, Yin Snake Gu, Living Snake Gu, and Love Gu.
The advantage of the Martial Arts Compendium was how easy it made everything to learn. Even a complex, formidable internal art like the Nine Yang Divine Skill could be mastered quickly.
Other people had Devil Fruits. Ye Chen had the Martial Arts Compendium. Of course, his training was all over the place: he picked whatever caught his fancy, like a picky eater.
"Hmm..."
