Frightened, Raphael cried out and hurriedly dodged to the side. Though he moved quickly and his reflexes weren't slow, a bloody piece of flesh still flew into the air.
Howling in pain, Raphael reached up and felt that his left ear had been sliced clean off.

Marines who rushed close were sent flying. The relentless blows struck hard and fast, while Ace took on the stronger opponents. An open space had formed around the brothers.
One group of Marines charged in and fell. Another followed and met the same fate.
Whitebeard swung his massive blade, each slash whipping up a ferocious gale. Nothing could stand against its edge. His towering frame stood firm, and every movement carried a commanding force that demanded respect.
Fujitora had just unleashed a Gravity Blade when Whitebeard set his sights on him. "Gurararara!" Laughing wildly, Whitebeard slashed toward him. The blade flashed like lightning, sending a fierce wave of force hurtling forward. Fujitora's expression turned grave, and he hastily raised his sword to block.
Boom!
Whitebeard's slash came down like a mountain. Its force slammed into Fujitora and shook him violently, driving him back more than a dozen steps. The moment he regained his footing, Whitebeard tossed his blade into the air and clenched his fist. The air boomed and shuddered as an even more powerful shock wave surged toward him.
The Marines in Whitebeard's path were hurled into the sky. Screams, sobs, and cries of alarm mingled until the whole world seemed to dissolve into chaos.
