When Doflamingo flew into the sky, Ye Chen tapped the ground lightly with both feet and sprang after him. He fired several streaks of white light in quick succession. They flashed like lightning, swift as sparks. At such close range, they should not have missed, but Doflamingo gave a mocking laugh and twisted aside, dodging them all.
Smoke filled the air above the square, while the cannon fire below sent waves of hot air surging upward. Doflamingo spread his arms and hovered steadily in midair, light as a swallow. His pink coat fluttered in the wind. With his imposing presence and cold purple sunglasses, he looked like a king ruling over the world, as though everything under heaven lay beneath his feet.
Even though Ye Chen had just killed Trebol, Doflamingo still wore an arrogant, disdainful sneer.
Doflamingo had always been utterly confident in his strength and his future. Though he was no longer one of the Celestial Dragons, he still held leverage that made them wary. His habit of laughing and joking with a cold edge came from knowing just how much power he controlled.
He was the emperor of the Underworld, carried the blood of the Celestial Dragons, and was one of the Shichibukai. He could even speak to the Celestial Dragons as an equal. That made him a powerful figure no faction dared underestimate, free to operate on either side of the law as he pleased.
Unfortunately for him, his opponent was Ye Chen. None of the resources Doflamingo controlled meant a thing in Ye Chen's eyes.
Ye Chen did whatever he wanted, without a moment's hesitation. He cared nothing for the Celestial Dragons or the World Government. What in this world would he be afraid to do?
Doflamingo had picked a fight with the wrong man.
