Weevil brought his blade down with savage force. Ye Chen darted aside, and a crack burst open where he had stood. It spread rapidly, as though it might split the entire beach in two.
Seeing Ye Chen dodge, Weevil roared and swung at him again. Ye Chen flipped backward and landed lightly. The instant his toes touched the ground, he slashed, sending a blade of energy straight at Weevil.
Weevil reacted just as quickly. He stepped back and held his blade across his body. With a thunderous crash, he blocked Ye Chen's strike.
He might normally have looked like an idiot, but Weevil was no fool in a fight. His reactions were ingrained in his body. Wherever Ye Chen attacked, he responded in time.
Fighting him was no easier than fighting Jack the Drought. Worse, Weevil's body was so monstrously strong that Ye Chen did not dare meet him head-on.
Ye Chen had no advantage in strength. Even Shanks, Kaido of the Beasts, or Blackbeard would probably have struggled to gain the upper hand. Who could overpower a monster with the strength Whitebeard had possessed in his youth?

Though he never struck Ye Chen, he wrecked everything around them. Sand and stones flew, trees snapped, and nothing in his path escaped.
