Before long, they were all asleep. Even when the patrolling guards came to check on them, they noticed nothing amiss.
The night passed quietly. At first light, Turner arrived with a group of men. More than a dozen burly fellows followed him, each carrying a food box. The delicious smell reached the prison long before they did.
