Anjebel's astonishment caught Li Ziran off guard. It was the first time he had seen such a stunned expression on an elf woman's face.
Even when she had been fully gestated back then, she had never looked like this.
Yet her surprise soon slowly turned into jealousy, even resentment.
It felt strange, as though someone had stolen her most beloved treasure.
"Something wrong?" Li Ziran asked softly. This woman's jealousy was somewhat frightening.
Only after remaining silent for a long while did Anjebel slowly say, "Oak's Guardian. It's a very ordinary spell, yet it is something every elf dreams of.
Perhaps it sounds laughable that an ordinary Primordial Elf like me would be jealous. No—anyone who understands elven history would be jealous."
Anjebel panted heavily, seeming deeply indignant about the situation. "You don't understand. The Oak protects the Elves. Only when the Elves truly face a crisis of extinction can the Oak's power be used. But now, Aimier's mother privately used the Elves' accumulated foundation. This is selfishness. This is overstepping her authority. She should not have transferred the benefits she possessed to a second-generation elf. She had no right to enjoy these things in the first place."
Li Ziran vaguely understood. That eye which had blocked the Light Sheep's corrosion had come from the enormous Oak, the absolute foundation of the entire Elven race.
Li Ziran looked out the window. The Oak was enormous, supporting the vast Elven City. Its size had already surpassed that of a Cloudsoaring Giant. He could not help recalling the scene of confronting that bizarre eye. That oppressive feeling of an entire world seemed like something only a colossal behemoth could produce.
"Does the Oak possess intelligence?"
Li Ziran asked in a low voice. He did not particularly care whether the Oak possessed wisdom.
