The instant the warning came, Li Ziran shoved hard against the window. Yet the window he could open with a flick of his fingers was incredibly difficult to close, as though a boundless ocean lay behind it.
With the window open, clusters of lights came racing toward it.
The pitch-black space suddenly blazed with streaks of light like a meteor shower. These were not moths, but enormous creatures the size of giant centipedes, each draped in a tattered cloak and barely managing to float through the Void Expanse with a few Void Coins.
Now Li Ziran could even see the excitement on the monsters' faces. They were certainly not ordinary visitors.
But the window would not budge. His strength seemed utterly powerless against the entire Void Expanse. Just then, another force came from beside him. It was the bat that had escaped inside, beating his wings and pressing his head firmly against the window.
With a bang, it slammed shut.
A rapid series of thuds followed. The battered window continued to vibrate, but neither their collisions nor their elemental bombardment could make the slightest dent in it.
Fear lingered in Li Ziran's heart. Letting those things inside would have ended badly. Those creatures looked like starving wretches, and creatures in that state had no scruples whatsoever.
His gaze abruptly swung behind him and settled on the bat. Letting this fellow inside might not have been a good thing either.
Seemingly freed from the pressure of the Void Expanse, a trace of color finally returned to that pale face. After a few beats, the two bat wings slowly transformed, revealing a handsome young man. He smiled at Li Ziran and said a friendly "Thank you," then asked quietly, "Do you have any Void Coins?"
