His consciousness burst out of Hippo Ancient City almost in an instant and plunged into a layer of membrane. It was sticky, thick, like some kind of asphalt. Waves of scorching heat passed through the viscous film, as though they wanted to completely purify his soul.
Looking down, he saw membrane behind him as well. This layer was very faint, but beyond it lay countless runes. The runes formed an immense circular array, packed with ant-like runes that constructed a Void Expanse fissure. From within the fissure, waves of energy surged into the circular array.
The circular array was rotating, and endless energy poured into the membrane. Yet within the membrane, it could only bore tiny holes the size of an array eye.
Was this a dimensional wall? Or a spatial wall?
He could see clearly that the writhing Hippo Ancient City was undergoing a complete transformation. At the very outer edge of the ancient city, the Boundary Wall stared fixedly at him like a venomous snake.
On the other side of the membrane lay the void where countless stars revolved: the sun, fixed stars, Sagittarius, and the occasional shooting star. It was the world he knew. It seemed that everything he had experienced on the Red Soil Continent had been nothing more than a layer of dream. So long as he wished it, he could pass through the membrane and descend upon Earth once again.
He saw the lights of Earth, that rooster-shaped continent. In a hospital at the very center of the continent, a body lay on a hospital bed, covered in tubes.
