"I knew it."
Looking at the sign for Building 3A in front of him, Liu Zheng rolled his eyes.
Who knew where they had picked up this bad habit—Building 4 had to be called Building 3A, while Building 18 became 17A or was simply skipped altogether.
He took the elevator to the sixth floor and found the door to 606 in the northeast corner.
"Hello, your delivery is here."
Liu Zheng knocked on the door.
There was no response.
He knocked a few more times with force, and at last, movement came from inside.
"Leave it at the door. I'll get it myself later."
A weak yet irritable voice shouted.
Leave it at the door? That probably didn't count as delivered, did it?
"Sorry, but the restaurant requires the customer to sign for the delivery in person. Please open the door and take it."
Liu Zheng spoke cautiously.
"I don't have time! Stop bothering me!"
The voice inside grew more agitated.
"You really won't open it?"
He was starting to lose patience too.
"I won't! Keep bothering me and I'll call the police."
The voice shrieked.
So this world had police?
Even if it did, Liu Zheng wasn't afraid.
Last time, he had killed all the security guards at First-Class Sky Villas, and nobody had come to arrest him. This time, he was only knocking on a door.
Even so, Liu Zheng called Cow-Horse.
"The number you have dialed is not in the service area."
The phone's automated message played.
Fine, fine. Playing disappearing games, were they?
It seemed asking Cow-Horse whenever he ran into trouble was no longer an option.
Liu Zheng looked at his phone screen, and a string of numbers suddenly surfaced in his mind.
Si Xue definitely knew more than Cow-Horse.
"If you don't court death, you won't die."
He shook his head hard, banishing the crazy thought.
"Open the door. I'll toss the delivery inside and leave. I won't delay you for even a second."
Liu Zheng shouted.
"I won't. Please, stop bothering me."
The person inside wailed.
"What a lunatic."
He was speechless.
Not one of these people ordering delivery was normal. Couldn't the restaurant screen its customers?
As Liu Zheng complained, he raised his tentacles.
If they wouldn't open the door, they were getting fucked. Who wasn't a lunatic these days?
His tentacles drummed up, down, left, and right across the security door, giving him the strange feeling that he was playing the drums.
Liu Zheng was having fun, but the person inside couldn't take it anymore.
"Stop knocking!"
The security door suddenly flew open outward, and a pale-faced person glared at him.
"Huh? It's actually a woman."
Liu Zheng said in surprise.
She was petite, wearing an oversized T-shirt that hung all the way to her knees, with one shoulder exposed at a crooked angle.
Her features and face were extremely youthful as well, making her look like a middle schooler.
Though other parts of her had developed quite maturely.
"I'm not signing for it. Get out of here, or I really will call the police."
The girl threatened him, her voice quite androgynous. No wonder he had not been able to tell her gender earlier.
"Sorry. I'll leave right away."
Liu Zheng bowed apologetically, his tone sincere.
The girl's expression eased slightly. Just as she was about to close the security door, a black shadow suddenly flew past her ear.
"See you again."
Liu Zheng said with a smile, then thoughtfully helped her close the door.
"Ahhh!"
A few seconds later, a belated scream rang out from inside.
He pricked up his ears and listened as though enjoying beautiful music.
Bullying a young girl was a different kind of pleasure from blowing the heads off those burly men.
However, even though his sneak attack had succeeded, Liu Zheng did not immediately lower his guard.
Based on his first delivery experience, as long as the time had not run out, these people who ordered food could still refuse the delivery.
He extended four tentacles and leaned his center of gravity forward, bracing himself firmly against the door.
Sure enough, sounds of someone slamming into the door soon came from inside.
Once, twice, three times.
The violent impacts made Liu Zheng's head buzz.
It seemed overly high perception was not necessarily a good thing. Not only did it make it easier to lose sanity, it also tortured all five senses.
"She's pretty strong."
The security door was repeatedly knocked open by a crack, only for him to force it shut again.
Through the gap, he could vaguely see the girl's face twisted in rage.
Without the boosts from Flesh Mutation and the Legendary Deliveryman Persona, he probably would have been sent flying by the first blow.
"Ahhhhh!"
Unable to force open the door, the girl finally flew into a towering rage.
Serrated bone spurs burst from her fair arms, transforming into two mantis-like forelimbs.
"Fuck."
Liu Zheng was quick on his hands and hooves, immediately leaping to the side.
The next second, amid the teeth-grating screech of metal being cut, the heavy security door was instantly shredded into pieces.
"Take your delivery and get lost, or I'll fucking kill you."
The girl hooked the delivery bag with her bare foot and spoke viciously.
"Could I beat her?"
His gaze did not fall on the delivery bag, nor did it fall on that delicate, translucent little foot. Instead, he stared at those savage serrated limbs.
If he had to block that strike head-on, it was not as though he could not withstand it.
His physical strength had risen another level, and cutting wounds like that posed little threat to Flesh Rebirth.
But who knew whether she had other tricks up her sleeve?
"Let's make a deal."
Liu Zheng suddenly said.
"What deal?"
The girl froze for a moment.
"Don't you all want flesh? I should have quite a lot of flesh on me."
"Who wants your fat?"
The girl said disdainfully.
"Only laborers like you need that stuff."
"Oh."
Liu Zheng nodded.
He had successfully fished for information. This woman really was not some ordinary slut.
She did not even want "flesh," which clearly meant she was on a higher level than the enemies he had encountered before.
If he could outsmart her, there was no need to fight her head-on.
"Then let's make a different deal. I'll teach you how to write novels, and you'll sign for the delivery."
He thought for a moment before speaking.
"Teach me how to write novels? You?"
The girl let out a clucking laugh, like a little hen that ate people.
"Where do you publish your novels? Traditional publishing, print magazines, or online serialization?"
Liu Zheng asked.
"Uh, online serialization."
The girl replied.
"A free platform or paid subscriptions?"
"Paid subscriptions."
The girl's expression gradually turned serious.
"Male-oriented or female-oriented? What genre?"
He asked again.
"Male-oriented. A reincarnation business novel."
The girl answered honestly.
"What's your average subscription count?"
"I-I haven't signed a contract yet. My new submission was rejected."
The girl said shyly.
"Heh."
Liu Zheng sneered.
"I've written reincarnation business novels too. My average subscriptions were over three thousand."
Then he had flopped repeatedly and switched careers to become a reporter.
"You're lying, right? Then why are you delivering food?"
The girl questioned him.
"Collecting material."
He answered flatly.
"Is that so?"
The girl was no fool, and suspicion still lingered in her eyes.
"Enough nonsense. Let me see your manuscript."
Liu Zheng checked his phone. There were twenty minutes left, enough time to read the opening.
"Fine."
The girl studied his four tentacles and reluctantly agreed.
She pulled an electronic notebook from her pocket and handed it to Liu Zheng.
It took him only three minutes to skim through the seven-thousand-word opening.
"What the fuck is this garbage?"
Liu Zheng judged it without mercy.
"Isn't that a little too harsh?"
The girl was displeased.
"You made the protagonist an ordinary-looking, gloomy guy. Terrible choice."
"Why?"
The girl asked.
"All readers are hot studs. How are they supposed to immerse themselves if you write them like that?"
Liu Zheng declared righteously.
