After finishing the fish soup, the Oceanographer finally stopped complaining. He fell silent and stared gravely out at the sea, as though he had at last begun to reflect on his life.

With the extra Memory Points in hand, Xia Lun focused on preparing the remaining dishes.

A few hours later, the Oceanographer finished his reflection just as Xia Lun finished cooking. Xia Lun poured the fish soup from the Jade Wolf Pot back into a regular cooking pot, and the two of them carried the food and tableware into the cabin.

The cabin was stuffy. The engine hummed beneath the floor, but everyone seemed to be in decent spirits. Roman was even grinning as she teased little Aislin.

"Don't get so worked up." Carson, dressed in his pink suit, stood straight beside Manhunter and watched the sonar display. "The company's leadership places great value on that thing. If we catch it, everyone here will have a future."

"I'm not the one you should tell that to. I hate every company equally. I just want to see all those damned things burn to ash." Manhunter snorted. "A rich man like you probably doesn't want to hear that, huh?"

"It doesn't bother me. After all, I know what you did on the twelfth level of the city."

Carson laughed and grew unexpectedly talkative.

"The nuclear bomb your group used to attack Jade Pharmaceuticals' Tower? We supplied it. Young man, in the city, even mercenary groups that seem the most marginal—and therefore the freest—are controlled by corporations."

Xia Lun frowned slightly. Jade Pharmaceuticals?
