Xia Lun slammed Manhunter to the floor. At the dull impact, everyone else turned in shock.

"What are you doing?! That monster's about to hit us!" Carson stared at him in disbelief.

The Attendant gritted his teeth and lunged for the controls, but Roman raised the Harpoon Gun and aimed it at him.

"Don't move. Listen to Xia Lun!"

The Attendant stopped, eyes blazing. "That's suicide!"

"I said don't move!" Roman's finger tightened slightly on the trigger.

At that critical moment, Xia Lun gave a surprisingly calm laugh.

"Don't be afraid." He eased his hand off Manhunter's shoulder. "That monster should be the so-called Gatekeeper. Fighting it would play right into the Screenwriter's hands."

As they spoke, the monster drew closer. The screen connected to the forward camera caught a glimpse of it.

Static flickered across the screen as a huge mass of blood-red, hairlike tendrils swept past its upper edge.

Those red tendrils were a negligible part of the monster, little more than hairs on a human body. Yet even that tiny fraction blotted out everything the survivors could see!

The stranded whale on the surface had been as large as an island, but it was insignificant beside this monster! Even the Wheel of Moxie, which had once whipped the sea into a whirlpool, could not compare!

"C-c-c..." Aislin's teeth chattered. She stared blankly at the screen, despair filling her heart.

The unknown inspired fear, and with the Submarine's outdated observation equipment, they could not even make out the giant monster's full form!

Boom!

As the colossus moved, a tsunami-like surge slammed into the Submarine's side. The vessel rocked violently. Caught off guard, the Attendant and Aislin lost their balance. As they fell, the murky green cabin lights went out, plunging everything into darkness!
