Background

In her youth, Geliide was a merchant supported by her influential father. Before the Black Rose War, she attempted to profit from an expected rise in grain prices, but her father curtailed her control of the merchant association. She then trusted the Commodore, a noble overseeing naval supplies, and provided a family heirloom as collateral for an apparent grain deal. 41

The arrangement was a trap. The Commodore orchestrated the destruction of the navy’s grain stores, framed Geliide for arson, and used the resulting crisis to have her father executed. Geliide was imprisoned and subjected to prolonged torture, including water torture, flaying, the iron maiden, and medical experimentation. 41

She later became a mercenary and then a privateer captain. By the events of Sea Battle Royale, her pursuit of revenge has driven her crew through a storm zone, costing them their flagship and helping provoke the first mate’s mutiny. 9 18

Personality

Geliide is a hardened, pragmatic leader who understands that pirates are motivated by survival, wealth, and immediate gratification rather than ideals. When her command is threatened, she restores morale by promising gold, alcohol, money, and other rewards, then invokes the crew’s past victories to reinforce their shared identity. 12

She is also manipulative and politically alert. During her first conversation with Xia Lun, she tries to appear vulnerable and trustworthy so that he will lower his guard; once he exposes the attempt, she abandons the performance and negotiates from mutual necessity instead. 9

Her long-standing hatred of the Commodore is intensely personal and overrides her usual caution. Believing the Monster to be the Commodore, she becomes eager for a final confrontation, only to discover that Captain Haya used the false lead to lure her into his revenge plot. 23 30 Despite this ruthless past and obsession with revenge, she ultimately proves capable of genuine loyalty, sacrificing herself for Xia Lun because she considers their alliance real. 32

Mutiny and Alliance

After the first mate betrays her amid the Abyssal Hand’s attack, Geliide survives with wounds and a shattered command structure. She attempts to manipulate Xia Lun into protecting her, but he sees through her approach and proposes an alliance: he will help restore her authority if she publicly identifies his killings as executions of traitors. 2 9

Restoring the Crew

With fewer than two dozen survivors remaining, Geliide and Xia Lun coordinate a plan to stabilize the crew and expose lingering rebels. Geliide’s public speech, gold distribution, and promises of survival temporarily restore order, though the gunner’s challenge demonstrates that her authority remains fragile. 12

Hunt for the “Commodore”

Geliide initially believes the Abyssal Hand is the Commodore who ruined her life. She reveals that the Commodore fears the Wicker Man and commits herself to Xia Lun’s plan to kill the Monster. 23

The truth emerges after the ship’s destruction: the Monster is Captain Haya, not the Commodore. Haya deliberately planted the Commodore rumor to draw Geliide into a revenge trap over atrocities committed by her crew years earlier. 30

Final Sacrifice

Gravely injured and unable to continue fighting, Geliide uses a gunpowder barrel to destroy the remaining Walking Corpses and deny Haya his reinforcements. Her action leaves the Abyssal Hand defenseless and gives Xia Lun the opportunity to kill it. 32
