Background / History
Obito monitors Konoha’s changes from afar while manipulating Kirigakure. The disappearance of a White Zetsu and accumulating intelligence eventually compel him to investigate personally. Using Kamui, he enters Konoha through its cemetery and infiltrates the Konoha Research Institute, where he confronts Aoba, Sasuke, and Karin. 134
He views Aoba’s reforms as an unacceptable disruption of Konoha’s former corruption and attempts to kill him. Their first battle ends without a decisive victor: Aoba cannot reliably overcome Kamui’s intangibility, while Obito recognizes Flying Thunder God: Second Stage as a serious threat and withdraws before Konoha can contain him. 135 136
Aoba later uses Kotoamatsukami to control Obito, but Black Zetsu immediately attacks Obito’s brain and assumes control of his body. When Black Zetsu is weakened in a later conflict, Obito reasserts himself, tears away the possessed half of his body, and escapes with the Rinnegan. 166 221
Appearance
Obito initially conceals himself beneath an Uzumaki mask and robe. After losing Kamui and suffering repeated injuries, his body becomes visibly reconstructed and scarred, resembling White Zetsu more than an ordinary human. 134 245
- Wears an Uzumaki mask during his covert infiltration of Konoha. 134
- Possesses a heavily modified body with few remaining conventional vital organs beyond his heart and brain. 245
- Bears extensive scars from repeated destruction, repair, and biological modification. 245
- Later wields two Rinnegan after losing access to Kamui. 244 344
Personality
Obito is driven almost entirely by his fixation on Rin Nohara. He seeks the Tailed Beasts and repeatedly accepts manipulation, alliances, and escalating danger because he believes they may create a world in which Rin can return. 313 314 343
He is ruthless and prepared to kill those who obstruct him, yet he is not thoughtless. He studies threats, targets dangerous opponents such as Itachi first, and recognizes when retreat is preferable to a prolonged battle. 136 246 247
His composure deteriorates when he is repeatedly outmaneuvered by Aoba. Humiliation and the failure of his overwhelming techniques provoke rage, exposing an impulsiveness that contrasts with Madara’s restraint. 276 277
Although Obito understands many of the realities surrounding Rin’s death and the limits of resurrection, he refuses to accept conclusions that conflict with his desire to see her again. 345 348
Abilities & Skills
Kamui Mangekyō Sharingan
Obito’s original Mangekyō ability grants intangibility and space-time movement, allowing him to evade attacks, infiltrate defended locations, and nullify most conventional combat options. 135
- Can pass through weapons, ninjutsu, and physical attacks while intangible. 135
- Enables undetected entry into Konoha and its Research Institute. 134
- Is vulnerable when Obito returns to a tangible state to attack. 135
- Flying Thunder God: Second Stage can threaten him, particularly when used with precise timing. 136
- Becomes unavailable after Aoba obtains Obito’s right Kamui eye. 221 244
Rinnegan
After escaping Black Zetsu’s control, Obito wields the Rinnegan as his primary source of power. Its extreme chakra and life-force demands remain a persistent weakness because his modified body cannot fully support it. 221 244 270
- Shinra Tensei — Repels opponents and attacks; powerful versions can devastate the battlefield but have a cooldown and strain Obito heavily. 244 247 276
- Banshō Ten'in — Pulls targets toward him, often setting up Black Rod attacks or close-range kills. 249 273
- Chibaku Tensei — Creates a massive gravitational sphere capable of drawing in terrain and combatants. 248 249
- Limbo: Border Jail — Uses invisible clones to strike, restrain, and disrupt opponents beyond normal perception. 273 281
- Summoning Technique — Calls powerful creatures such as the Hundred Crack Hounds of Hell, a giant rhinoceros, bombing birds, and the Invisible Chameleon. 245
- Limit — Sustained Rinnegan use consumes his life force and leaves him exhausted, especially when controlling the Ten-Tails or using high-output techniques. 244 248 275
Wood Release and Modified Physiology
Hashirama Cells and later White Zetsu-like reconstruction give Obito Wood Release, abnormal resilience, and a body capable of surviving injuries that would kill ordinary shinobi. 135 245
- Generates wooden spikes and uses Wood Release techniques including Hellish Chaos and Great Fireball-supported assaults. 135 245
- Can turn his own body into a source of erupting wooden spikes to counter close-range attacks. 249
- Survives Amaterasu by tearing away burning flesh from his body. 246
- His damaged body remains poorly suited to prolonged taijutsu and cannot fully endure Rinnegan output. 245 270
Ten-Tails Control
When surrounded by Akatsuki, Obito summons the partially restored Ten-Tails as an emergency trump card. 247
- The Ten-Tails unleashes a lightning attack across several kilometers, crippling multiple Kage-level opponents. 247
- Its power overwhelms ordinary defenses and resists most direct attacks. 248
- Obito’s control is unstable because the incomplete beast retains some consciousness and resists him. 248
Relationships
- Rin Nohara — His sole enduring emotional attachment; his desire to restore or recreate a world with Rin defines his goals and makes him vulnerable to manipulation. 134 313 348
- Aoba Kamikawa — Primary enemy and recurring pursuer. Aoba repeatedly counters, wounds, traps, or outmaneuvers Obito, making him the central obstacle to Obito’s plans. 135 136 275 276
- Kakashi Hatake — Former friend and opponent whose connection to Rin remains a source of resentment. Kakashi later overwhelms Obito in the Kamui Dimension. 345 348
- Madara Uchiha — Mentor and predecessor whose training, eyes, and legacy shape Obito’s power. Obito remains uneasy about wielding Madara’s Rinnegan in Madara’s presence. 135 281
- Black Zetsu — Manipulator and former possessor of Obito’s body. Their relationship is defined by mutual distrust, attempted control, and Obito’s repeated efforts to reclaim autonomy. 166 221 283
- Orochimaru — Transactional ally who stabilizes Obito’s failing body in exchange for help researching the Rinnegan; neither trusts the other. 270 273
- Sage of Six Paths — Later benefactor and manipulator who promises Rin’s resurrection, provides assistance, and uses Obito as a probe against Konoha. 343 344 349
- Hashirama Senju — Temporary ally used alongside Obito during attacks on Konoha; Hashirama rescues him from Aoba’s encirclement. 277 344

- Battle against the new Akatsuki — Is surrounded in the Land of Hot Water by Itachi, Kisame, Sasori, Deidara, Shin, and Hiruko. Pressured by their coordinated assault, he relies on Rinnegan techniques, summons, and the partially restored Ten-Tails. 244 245 247
