There was no more time wasted.
The final match began smoothly.
His opponent was a scholarly-looking boy with an indifferent expression, his facial muscles completely still, as if he had a poker face.
Upon learning that he would go first, he tossed out a Poké Ball without a second thought.
Bang!
A flash of white light.
A vaguely familiar humanoid Pokémon in fiery red and bright yellow landed on the field.
A level fifty-seven Magmortar, with the Flame Body Ability and a level-six move—[Flamethrower].
To be honest, Heiduo had always thought Magmortar was a pretty cool Pokémon. Although its belly was as round as a goose egg, its head was always lowered as though it had a stiff neck, and its dead-fish eyes stared sharply at its enemies.
Overall, though, it could still be considered handsome.
At the very least, it looked better than its pre-evolution, Magmar.
And against a Pokémon like this, Larvitar was undoubtedly the best choice!
Bang!
A flash of white light.
The adorable Larvitar burst from its Poké Ball!
The match began!
"Sunny Day!"
The scholarly boy raised a hand and shouted!
The muscle tissue in Magmortar's right claw shrank into its arm with a "shloop," revealing a pitch-black opening. Within it, a brilliant orb of light rapidly condensed before Magmortar raised its cannon-like arm and fired it skyward!
Boom!
The orb swiftly expanded and spread, forming a blazing sun that shone down over the field!
Manual sunlight!
Heiduo raised an eyebrow. Magmortar's intentions could not have been more obvious: after setting up Sunny Day, it would attack Larvitar with a Solar Beam at quadruple effectiveness. Given Larvitar's current Special Defense, it was hard to say whether it could withstand more than two Solar Beams!
But Heiduo was not helpless either!
"Sandstorm!"
You set up sunlight,
