He had always thought Darkrai was like a block of wood, the kind that curled up in the shadows and never came out.
Yet not only had it left the tree's shade, it was now standing on the roof and gazing into the distance.
Did it miss Sketch Plateau?
Or had it come around and decided not to keep opposing him because these Pokémon had developed a sense of belonging to the Gym?
While Heiduo was busy imagining things, Mewtwo promptly doused him with a bucket of cold water.
"It came out the day you left."

"That's a fact." Mewtwo landed on both feet and closed the book in its hands. "It was obvious that if it had somewhere else to go and weren't bound by you, it would have left long ago. All your previous efforts were completely useless."
Heiduo's mouth twitched. He knew Mewtwo was absolutely right, but hearing it from someone else felt like having a freshly healed wound ripped open.
Still, Darkrai really was hard to win over. He had never seen such an impervious Pokémon.
It looked like he would still have to let time prove everything.
"Has it entered anyone's dreams? Or hypnotized anyone?"
"No." Mewtwo shook its head. "At least, I've never caught it doing so even once. Does it really hypnotize people at random?"
As it spoke, the artificial Pokémon frowned and asked Heiduo with a trace of doubt in its voice.

Heiduo suppressed the urge to roll his eyes. Then, on second thought, he suddenly felt that perhaps it had not all been pointless, as Mewtwo claimed.
