Whoosh—
All was silent. On the lonely, towering city wall, Lincon was the only human still standing.
The Hive Legion sensed that something was off with Lincon's emotions. They exchanged glances, and in the end, Isaiah stepped forward to ask.
"My lord, what should we do next?"
Yes. What should they do next?
Lincon's eyes shifted as he took a deep breath.
Though the Eternal Night Great Wall mission had failed, it was unexpected to him, yet somehow understandable.
If an epic-level mission were that easy to complete, could it still be called epic?
In a single campaign, countless Abyssal Creatures had been deployed. Everything below C-Rank was cannon fodder, while B-Rank could merely survive a little longer. Only at A-Rank could one determine the outcome of a small battlefield.
Above that, Abyss Epics and human-ranked ability users were the key factors that decided the outcome of a war.
Lincon raised his head and looked toward the rolling thunder that periodically erupted from within the dark clouds, as well as the terrifying dragon roars. In the end, he sighed and said two words.
"Retreat!"
The Great Wall Defense Line had fallen, and the mission had failed. If they still wanted to fight the Abyss Sea now, it would be no different from seeking death.
He had a heart that wished to serve his country, but he also knew that human strength had its limits. The situation was beyond saving.
"Yes."
Isaiah accepted the order and departed.
In truth, the legion commanders had all feared that Lincon would act on impulse and lead this batch of Hive Legion troops into a suicidal fight against the Abyss Sea.
The difference in strength between the two sides was simply too vast. Whether in numbers or overall combat power, they were not even comparable.
