"By my name, let his arm become a blade, and let breath temper the flames!"
"Let a scorching heart forge the edge that tears through chaos and falsehood!"
"May the selves of infinite worlds grant me—"
"Sword of Endless Judgment, descend!"
As the incantation ended, a massive pale-white sword formed in Richard's hand once more.
"Master Ancient One, this is the Sword of Vishanti I just improved. Uh, I call it the 'Divine Sword 2.0' now."
Richard held up the huge sword and smiled awkwardly.
"Truly incredible, Mage Richard." The Ancient One looked at the "Divine Sword 2.0" in Richard's hand and praised him with a sigh.
"I'm afraid my experience with improving spells cannot help you."
"And this 2.0 version you improved doesn't seem to draw upon dimensional energy?"
"Yes. I used my own power as its foundation. To be honest, I never expected it to succeed beforehand." Richard shrugged, his tone carrying a hint of surprise.
"Your own power?" The Ancient One carefully observed Richard. After a moment, she hesitantly asked, "Though it may be somewhat presumptuous, may I examine your body and soul?"
"Of course." Richard agreed immediately.
The Ancient One raised a hand and patted Richard's shoulder. An invisible force seeped into his body.
Richard's body grew slightly warm, then began to emit a pale-white glow. A surge of energy erupted and directly expelled the energy the Ancient One had sent into him.
"Mm."
The Ancient One let out a muffled grunt and staggered back four or five steps. She looked at Richard in astonishment.
"What a miracle, Mage Richard!"
"Your body has been continuously growing stronger! It has already surpassed the limits of mortals..."
"If this continues, you may perhaps transform into a god..."
Richard's mouth fell open. "Huh? Become a god?"
"That's right!" The Ancient One nodded. "So-called gods are also a type of human, except they are born powerful. Take the Asgardians of Asgard, for example. Their so-called gods are born with divine power."
Richard reacted quickly. Looking at the massive sword in his hand, shimmering with a pale-white halo, he said in surprise, "You mean I possess divine power?"
"Yes!" The Ancient One pointed at the massive sword and said with certainty, "Though I don't know what attribute this power has, it is indeed a force on par with the divine power of the Asgardians."
"..." Richard did not know what to say for a moment. He had never expected that merely merging with two of his other selves would cause his original self to develop something like divine power.
Perhaps what the Ancient One had said about becoming a god was truly possible!
Because Richard had already decided to learn Cross-Dimensional Spells from the Ancient One!
He wanted to actively travel to parallel worlds and other worlds to meet his other selves.
His extraordinary intuition told him that actively meeting his still-living other selves would bring unexpected surprises.
Richard hesitated for a moment, dispelled the massive pale-white sword in his hand, then pressed his palms together and bowed deeply. "Master, I would like to ask you to teach me a spell."
The Ancient One asked, "What spell?"
"The Cross-Dimensional Spell you use to cross dimensions and travel to other worlds." Richard spoke solemnly.
"..." The Ancient One fell silent for a moment, then suddenly said, "Mage Richard, ever since you came to Kamar-Taj, I discovered that I cannot see through you."
Richard paused slightly. "What do you mean?"
The Ancient One shook her head and spoke frankly. "I used the Eye of Agamotto to try to see your future, but all I saw was blankness."
"Blankness?!" Richard was startled. Did I die in the future?
Seeing what Richard was thinking, the Ancient One waved a hand. "It does not mean you died. It means I cannot observe even the slightest trace of you in the future. It is very possible that you settled in another world, or that your power completely surpassed both me and the Eye of Agamotto."
Gods could not be gazed upon directly!
Those words suddenly surfaced in Richard's mind.
"Out of a mage's curiosity..." The Ancient One's face carried an apologetic expression. "I asked other Ancient Ones across the Multiverse about you, but..."
"The Ancient Ones of other worlds told me there is no Richard in their worlds!"
"Only this world, this universe, has Richard!"
"What?" Richard tilted his head, utterly baffled. What did she mean, there was only one Richard? Then what were the two other selves he had entered dreams to meet before?
The Ancient One also looked somewhat confused. She guessed, "Perhaps this is also why your body keeps growing stronger!"
"The Ancient Ones across the Multiverse collectively believe that you accidentally devoured or acquired the spirituality of other Richards in the Multiverse, which allowed you to break through the limits of the human body and grow infinitely stronger."
Richard was somewhat astonished upon hearing this. The Ancient One truly deserved her status as someone who had lived for centuries. She had actually guessed half of it right!
That was right. He had indeed obtained a complete evolution by merging with his parallel-world selves.
But now, it seemed that the selves he had merged with were absolutely not his selves from within the Multiverse, but his selves from parallel worlds beyond the Multiverse.
In the Multiverse, was he the only one?
Did that represent something? Limited by his lack of extraordinary knowledge, he could not yet understand the secret hidden within it.
Forget that for now. He should first figure out the Cross-Dimensional Spell.
With that thought, Richard hurriedly asked, "Master, can I use your cross-dimensional secret technique normally?"
The Ancient One shook her head. "That, I do not know either. The prerequisite for using my cross-dimensional method is sensing the spirituality of other Ancient Ones in the Multiverse."
"Spirituality..." Richard frowned and thought for a moment, but still decided to learn it. "Master, please grant me the Cross-Dimensional Spell."
The Ancient One smiled and nodded. "Of course, Mage Richard."
As she spoke, she raised a finger and touched Richard's forehead. An extraordinarily complex rune array was transmitted into his mind.
Watching Richard slowly sit on the floor, the Ancient One left the hall with her hands behind her back, thoughtfully instructing the others not to enter and disturb him.
By the time he came back to his senses, night had fallen.
Through the window, he could clearly see a crescent moon hanging high in the sky.
Richard blinked, then hurriedly stood up.
"Damn it, what time is it? I still have to video call Chris. I can't be late!"
Richard raised a hand and drew a circle, opening a portal to his dormitory. He ran through it, threw himself in front of his desk, and turned on his computer.
QQ International was already open on the computer, and his only contact, Christine, had sent more than a dozen video-call requests.
"I'm screwed."
Muttering to himself, Richard quickly sent a video-call request, but Christine hung up every single time.
Only after he tried more than ten times did Christine finally accept.
Seeing Christine pouting unhappily in the video feed, Richard hurriedly tried to coax her.
"Sorry, honey. Class ran late, and I only just got back to the dorm."
"Class ran late?" Christine found Richard's words strange. "Did you become a teacher in Nepal?"
"Uh, not a teacher. I'm an apprentice at a, at a temple. I have to say, this religious knowledge is really too complicated. It's harder than earning a medical doctorate."
Richard deliberately played up his misery. "My head feels like it's about to explode from studying. I fell behind just now, so class ran late."
"The moment class ended, I ran straight back to the dorm without even eating dinner."
"Ah, you haven't had dinner yet!" Christine immediately forgot to be angry and said with concern, "Then go eat quickly. We can talk after you finish."
"No, no!" Richard grinned and pulled out a cup of instant noodles from beneath the desk. "Luckily, I came prepared. Here, this is what I'm having tonight."
