In the afternoon, Richard originally planned to go shopping and watch a movie with Christine.
A phone call disrupted his plan.
Amidst Christine's dissatisfied gaze, Richard answered the phone, "Hello, who is this?"
"Mr. Richard, I'm Simmons, do you remember me?" A young male voice came through the phone.
Hearing the name, Richard immediately recalled that bespectacled black young man who had taken the initiative to come forward and leak information. "Of course I remember, Simmons, what do you need me for?"
"I want to meet with you, sir, and the address can be near where you live." Simmons's attitude was very humble.
Richard thought for a moment and said, "Three hundred meters west of Greenpoint Apartments, there is a cafe called Alsop. Let's meet there."
"Alright, sir, I'll wait for you there." After speaking, Simmons hung up the phone on his own initiative.
Simmons? What does this kid want with me, and does it still have to do with the Viper Gang?
As his thoughts spun rapidly, Richard cast an apologetic look at Christine. "Sorry, darling, our date will have to be a little late."
Christine speechlessly complained, "Richard, I think you're even busier now than before you left the hospital."
To this, Richard could only force a smile. Who told him to break his word first?
Alsop Cafe.
Simmons chose a window seat with no one else around.
Seeing Richard push the door open and enter, he hurriedly stood up.
"Mr. Richard, you're here."
Richard patted him on the shoulder, sat down, and said, "Simmons, don't be so rigid. We're already friends, aren't we?"
"Yes, sir." Simmons agreed verbally, but his attitude remained respectful. "What kind of coffee do you like?"
Sighing inwardly, Richard said, "A latte."
Simmons waved his hand and called out, "Waiter, one latte, one mocha."
"Alright guests, please wait a moment!" The waiter replied.
After ordering the coffee, Simmons directly reported a piece of news to Richard. "I've been keeping an eye on the situation with the Black Snake Gang, and accidentally discovered a place."
"The Black Snake Gang?" Richard thought carefully for a moment and said, "That secret vault?"
Simmons looked left and right vigilantly and nodded, "Yes, I accidentally tracked down the address."
Richard was puzzled. "So you came because?"
Simmons whispered, "I found nearly thirty million dollars in cash from that secret vault, along with some ledgers and crime videos belonging to the Black Snake Gang."
"That's a good thing." As Richard spoke, a puzzled expression appeared on his face. "Then why are you telling me?"
Simmons had a bitter expression. Just as he wanted to pour out his grievances, the waiter walked over carrying two cups of coffee.
"Your coffee, one latte, one mocha."
"Thanks~" Simmons voiced his gratitude.
Richard nodded politely.
After the waiter left, Simmons continued, "This thirty million might just be a small number to you, but to someone like me born in the slums, it's a ticking time bomb. Once the news leaks, my family and I will lose our lives."
Richard nodded in agreement. He prudently suggested, "You can spend it carefully. As long as you don't spend too much at one time, I believe no one will notice you."
"I will never keep a bomb that could detonate at any time by the side of me and my family." Simmons's gaze was extremely firm. In his eyes, thirty million in huge wealth was far inferior to the weight of his relatives.
"Then why did you come to find me?" Richard asked, puzzled.
"I want to hand these thirty million dollars over to you, sir," Simmons said respectfully.
"To me?" Richard looked at Simmons in astonishment and asked again, "Why?"
"Your learning is enough to command them..." After speaking, Simmons wore an expectant expression. "And I want to follow you."
"Huh?" Richard had a head full of question marks; he didn't understand the thought logic of this black youth.
A trace of adoring affection appeared on Simmons's face as he continued, "You're a capable person. My mom taught me since I was a child that hanging around with kind-hearted and truly capable people is the only way to live a truly stable and good life."
"..."
Richard was silent for a moment, then praised, "Simmons, your mother is a great mother."
Simmons nodded. "I've always thought so, sir."
Richard thought of Christine and suddenly figured it out. He agreed outright, "Alright, I accept."
After sending Simmons away, Richard went straight back to Greenpoint Apartments.
He pressed down on the girl's shoulders, pushing Christine—who had stood up and was preparing to go out—back onto the sofa.
"Are we not going out?" Christine wore a puzzled expression.
"We'll go out in a bit." As Richard spoke, he suddenly asked with a solemn expression, "Clea, we're going to talk about a very serious topic right now."
Looking at Richard's solemn expression, Christine straightened her body and said, "Go ahead."
"If I want to start a company, can you quit your job as a doctor and come help me?" Richard looked into the girl's eyes and asked.
"Start a company?" There was some confusion in the girl's grayish-blue eyes.
"Yes, I want to start a company and I need someone I can trust to help me." As Richard spoke, he grabbed the girl's hand in one grasp and said emotionally, "But in this world, the only person I can completely trust is you."
A trace of being moved flashed across Christine's face, but she immediately rolled her eyes at Richard. "I'm so touched, darling, but why should I quit my beloved doctor job to go help you do some work I'm completely unfamiliar with?"
"Come on~ Clea~" Richard's feigned pitiful eyes were like those of an abandoned puppy, watery and moist, making Christine come dangerously close to falling for it.
"Fine, fine, I promise you, okay!" Christine hurriedly turned her head away, not daring to look into his eyes anymore. This man was simply foul; he looked mature and steady, but occasionally he was as childish as a big kid!
"That's great, darling!" Richard pulled the girl into his arms in one motion and planted a loud kiss on her.
"Ah! How hateful! Your spit is all gnawed on my face!" Christine hurriedly wiped the saliva off her face, angrily swung her little fist, and punched Richard a few times.
Richard pulled the girl up and said in high spirits, "Let's go, out on a date. All expenses today are on me."
"Wait! I haven't grabbed my bag yet!" Christine hurriedly reached out, barely managing to hook the strap of her orange shoulder bag with her middle finger.
Once out of Greenpoint, Christine naturally hooked her arm through Richard's.
The girl seemed to instantly become very lively, and began asking questions endlessly.
"Richard, when is your company opening?"
"What area will the company's future business be in?"
"By the way, do I need to study some knowledge about running a company in advance?"
"Ah, also, the company is going to..."
