"..."
Phil Coulson stared, his jaw dropping in unaccustomed shock.
He immediately pulled out his phone.
"Sir, send a car to pick me up at the Washington Monument on the National Mall!"
Nick Fury's puzzled voice came through the receiver: "Agent Coulson, you should be at the Stark Industrial Park right now."
Phil Coulson pressed his lips together. "Things are a bit complicated; I need to report to you in person."
The other end of the line fell silent for a moment before saying, "Someone will pick you up in five minutes."
After seeing Phil Coulson off, Tony immediately stepped forward to wrap an arm around Richard, his eyes shining as he asked.
"Hey, kid Richard, what was that just now? Tech? Or superpowers?"
Richard smiled faintly and countered, "Why couldn't it be magic?"
"Magic?" Tony curled his lip. "Oh, come on, kid, I'm way past the age for bedtime stories."
Richard shot him a sidelong glance and teased, "You can tell bedtime stories to the kids you and Pepper will have in the future."
Hearing that, Pepper blushed furiously.
"Ahem~" Tony gave a dry cough, not daring to look at Pepper, and hurriedly steered the conversation back. "Let's keep talking about that door of yours."
Pepper's gaze instantly turned resentful.
Richard chuckled softly, knowing in his heart that their relationship hadn't reached the boiling point yet.
He spread his hands and said, "That was magic, Tony."
"Aside from being a surgeon, I'm also a formal sorcerer of Kamar-Taj."
"Kamar-Taj?" Tony said with complete disbelief. "Are you planning to write a book? You even went and fabricated the name of an organization."
"It's not a name from a storybook, Tony~" Richard said with a serious expression. "Kamar-Taj is a sorcerer organization with a history spanning thousands of years, and it has always shouldered the vital responsibility of protecting the Earth."
Seeing Richard's solemn expression, Tony lost his composure. "So, you really are a sorcerer?!"
"Of course!" Richard raised his index finger and gently tapped the air.
Golden-red runes filled with geometric beauty emerged.
The Equilateral Triangle Array of the Vishanti, the Seven-Pointed Star Array of Hoggoth...
"Oh, my God!" Pepper covered her mouth in astonishment.
Tony stared in a daze at the continuously shifting golden-red runes in the air, muttering to himself, "This is truly insane!"
Richard smiled knowingly.
At that moment, a phone ringtone suddenly broke the silence.
He took out his phone and saw it was Professor Jennings.
He quickly answered.
"Professor, why are you calling so late?"
On the other end of the line, the old professor said impatiently, "Little Richard, I've found some clues!"
Richard was startled. "What clues?"
"Clues regarding the death of Junior Federer and the fire and explosion at the Federer Laboratory!"
Richard's spirits lifted.
Good grief, I've been searching for days without finding a single shred of a clue.
Professor Jennings actually found some?!
He truly lived up to being a towering figure in the medical world!
His network of connections was simply formidable!
He quickly pressed for details. "What clues are they, Professor?"
"The person I found discovered..." The old professor had just started to speak when angry sounds of him driving people away suddenly came from the other end of the phone.
"Who are you people? Get the hell out of my home!"
Bang! Bang!
Immediately after, two gunshots rang out, and the call abruptly disconnected.
"Professor! Professor! Damn it!" Richard's eyes instantly stained red with blood, and a terrifying murderous aura burst from his entire body.
He suddenly looked at Tony. "Tony! Do me a favor!"
Tony said instantly, "What is it? Name it."
Richard's eyes were as sharp as knife blades right then, making Tony's eye sockets sting. "Have Jarvis help me check where Professor Jennings's call just came from."
Tony closed his helmet and ordered, "Jarvis, find it based on what Richard said!"
"Right away, sir!"
Time ticked by second by second...
Richard furrowed his brow tightly, feeling like every second dragged on like a year.
A minute later, Jarvis found it.
"Sir, Professor Jennings Phillips's call originated from the Professor Apartment at 168th Street, Manhattan Heights, New York. The geographic coordinates are xx-xx!"
Richard said happily, "Thanks, Tony, and you too, Jarvis!"
"Happy to be of service, Mr. Richard~"
"Kid, if you need help, just contact me!" Tony patted his shoulder.
Richard nodded, slashed a void in the air to open a portal, and stepped through.
On the other side was an apartment.
Two fully armed assailants were carrying the motionless Professor Jennings outward.
Richard appeared directly in the doorway.
"Put the professor down!"
The two assailants exchanged glances, and one of them decisively gave an order.
"Complications! According to orders, kill this old man first!"
The other assailant nodded and reached his right hand toward his waist.
Richard flicked both hands, and two energy whips shot toward the two men like lightning, tightly binding them from head to toe like snakes.
Then his figure flashed, instantly crossing a distance of five meters to catch the old professor who was about to fall.
"Professor! Professor!"
Richard called out twice, and seeing no response from the old professor, quickly checked him over and found that he had likely been dosed with ether.
Only then did he breathe a sigh of relief.
"Good thing I got here in time!"
Richard looked at the two struggling assailants.
"Who are you people?"
The two men did not answer, only struggling blindly.
However, the energy whips tightened the more they struggled, and soon the two fell to the ground screaming in agony.
The assailant who had given the orders said weakly, "Bald Eagle, mission failed, confirm!"
Richard's expression changed, and he jerked his head around.
He saw a rocket-propelled grenade trailing an orange-red exhaust plume shooting in through the window.
"Lunatics!"
Richard cursed loudly, scooped up the old professor, and rapidly retreated into the portal that had opened silently behind him.
The assailant who had given the orders watched this scene in shock.
"What fuc..."
The next second, the rocket-propelled grenade slammed into the space beside him and detonated with a roar.
On the street outside the apartment, the assailant with the codename "Owl" put away his launcher and pressed his earpiece.
"Eagle's Nest! Eagle's Nest! Team 7, mission failed, target has been eliminated!"
Richard carried the old professor and appeared silently behind him.
"Eagle's Nest received, Bald Eagle, return immediately!"
"Bald Eagle received!"
Bald Eagle turned around, preparing to get into the car, and when he looked back, he saw Richard standing right behind him, causing his eyes to widen in shock.
"You..."
Before he could make a sound, Richard suddenly struck out with a palm against his chest.
"Ugh..."
Bald Eagle grunted softly, his soul directly knocked out of his body.
The flesh left without a soul collapsed limply onto the ground.
Bald Eagle looked at his own translucent, ghostly blue soul and asked in terrified panic.
"Who are you? What have you done?!"
As soon as he finished asking, he saw his own physical body on the ground and immediately began swimming frantically like a frog, trying to crawl back in.
There was no way Richard would let him have his wish.
He supported the unconscious old professor with his left hand while rapidly forming hand seals with his right.
"Spirit Vision Retrospection!"
His right index finger, carrying a trace of golden light, pierced into the head of Bald Eagle's soul.
