The presidents of the other guilds were utterly baffled when they received the news.
What was going on? Why had two major guilds suddenly begun carpet-searching the Black Market? Had some powerful card appeared there again?
Thus, the other major guilds began mobilizing as well—
"Though I don't know why, we should go join the fun too," said the president of Frostfall City.
"Go take a look at the Black Market. Find out what they're searching for," ordered the president of City of Evernight calmly.
"Did some card-making genius appear in the Black Market?" The president of the Pantheon had even hurried over personally.
Within ten minutes, a huge wave of guild managers had arrived at the Black Market to join the commotion.
Red Candle really wanted to cry. Who had bought the other Daiyu Cards? Setting Sun wanted to curse too. Fat Uncle had made twenty cards, yet he had only managed to buy one Wu Song Card. Could the other nineteen all have been Wu Song Cards, snatched up by the major clubs?!
The Black Market was thrown into complete chaos.
The streets were filled with important figures bearing titles like "Vice President of XX Guild" and "XX Guild Manager." Players running stalls eagerly took commemorative photos with the guild presidents. Meanwhile, Xie Mingzhe, the true culprit behind the turmoil in the Black Market, was happily leveling up in a cave on White Egret Star with his friends.
Senior Brother Qi asked, "Fat Uncle, you bought so much Nebula Paper before and said you wanted to try making original cards. Did you end up succeeding?"
Xie Mingzhe smiled. "I only made two cards casually. Their base stats weren't very good, so I sold them at the Black Market for a little pocket money."
Sisi asked excitedly, "What cards did you make, Fat Uncle? Can you show me?"
"They were both character cards, and I've already sold them all. I'll make a few more for you to collect when I get the chance!"
Senior Brother Qi advised him in the tone of an experienced player, "Character cards with poor stats really can't fetch a good price, but earning some pocket money is still nice. Making cards consumes quite a bit of mental energy. Don't make too many at once, or you'll overwork your brain."
Xie Mingzhe nodded. "Mm-hmm. I'll make another ten tonight, then call it a day."
—If Red Candle and Setting Sun heard that, they would probably be furious enough to die.
Xie Mingzhe was actually completely innocent, because he knew nothing about any of this.
He was merely a newbie who had just started playing this card game. In his view, there were countless cards in Star Card World. Cards that could sell for high prices had attack and defense stats starting in the tens of thousands. For example, that Tuberose card sold at auction had 100,000 health and 50,000 defense. The Daiyu Card he made only had 15 defense, and even at seven stars, it would not reach 1,000. The Wu Song Card's attack and defense were not high either, so it definitely could not sell for a good price.
He had no idea that Instant Death judgment skills had only been added to the database a few days ago and had never appeared in the game before—he had thought such skills were very common!
People from the two major guilds searched all over the Black Market for cards made by "Yueban."
Guild presidents like Red Candle and Setting Sun were nearly frantic.
Yet Xie Mingzhe remained exceedingly relaxed.
He followed Senior Brother Qi and Sisi through the caves of White Egret Star, chatting while farming monsters.
He needed to reach level 35 as soon as possible and join Chen's team. After all, he was now officially a power-leveler and could not neglect his work.
As for cards, he planned to make another ten Wu Song Cards tonight, then take them to the Black Market and sell them around for some pocket money.
No matter how small a mosquito was, it was still meat. If he produced them in bulk, he could always earn enough for a meal, right?
Author's note: This should explain many people's questions by now. The concept of Instant Death was proposed by Tang Muzhou, while Xie Mingzhe, with his unusual imagination, was the first to create an Instant Death card. Daiyu was the first Instant Death card in Star Card World, and Wu Song was the second. They happened to counter Tang Muzhou, who proposed the Instant Death concept, and Nie Yuandao, who supported Instant Death cards.
Tang/Nie: Did we just dig our own graves??
That's simply how the setting is. Everyone, just happily watch the protagonist make cards. Don't dwell on it too much, and overlook any parts that aren't rigorous enough.

8:30 p.m., Judgment Guild territory.
"Still no news from that Fat Uncle?" Illusory Moon asked with a deep frown.
"He keeps ignoring Shuangshuang's emails." Setting Sun had just returned from a circuit of the Black Market and was so depressed he wanted to cough blood. "I couldn't find any cards made by Fat Uncle there. And a lot of guilds are searching the Black Market too. I suspect those people might have bought Wu Song Cards as well?"
"Don't panic yet," Illusory Moon said calmly, analyzing the situation. "The twenty cards he made were not necessarily all Wu Song Cards. According to reports from our spies, Fenghua Guild is purchasing beautiful female character cards. I suspect that before making the Wu Song Card, he made a beautiful female character card that caught Fenghua Guild's attention."
"Right!" Setting Sun suddenly came to his senses. "I received reports from spies before too, saying that Red Candle was buying beautiful female character cards in bulk. She even specifically set up a stall to purchase them. Could that beautiful female card have been made by this Fat Uncle?"
Talented character card makers had rarely appeared in recent years. It was probably him." Illusory Moon stroked his chin in thought. "For Red Candle to have been alerted, the skills on that beautiful female card could not have been simple. It might have been an Instant Death judgment skill as well. That would explain everything. This Fat Uncle first made a beautiful female card and caught Red Candle's attention, then Shuangshuang happened to buy the Wu Song Card. Our two guilds began searching the Black Market at the same time, and the other guilds caught wind of it and came over to join the commotion."
"I hope that's the case. The Wu Song Cards might not have spread through the Black Market yet." Setting Sun silently prayed in his heart.
"By the way, do you remember how Tang Muzhou debuted back then?" Illusory Moon suddenly changed the subject.
"Of course I remember. Tang God debuted through the Black Market back then. At first, he made some low-level plant cards and took them to the Black Market to sell. They became hugely popular, and many people lined up at the Black Market to buy his cards. I heard that the Black Market streets back then were nearly packed to bursting with his fans..."
"Selling cards at the Black Market." Illusory Moon interrupted his vice president's rambling. "Don't you think this routine feels familiar?"
"!!!" Setting Sun finally reacted. "President, are you saying Fat Uncle is imitating Tang Muzhou?"
"No. I'm more worried that this Fat Uncle will become a second Tang Muzhou."
"..." Setting Sun could not believe his president's speculation. "A second Tang Muzhou? A genius in the card-making world? Just because of this one Wu Song Card?!"
