Amid the child's shrill cries, the murmurs of discussion grew even louder.
Blue Star's medical technology was advanced now, and bandages were only used as decoration. Still, someone wrapping bandages around their entire body was an unusual and bizarre sight.
"You're not apologizing?" the child's father said in displeasure. "That freakish getup of yours scared my kid. Aren't you going to apologize?"
Moss was very good-looking.
Why should he apologize?
Moss cast them a glance, his black eyes cold and vacant.
The greatest difference between him and Lan Luo was that Lan Luo was always affected by the outside world, while Moss was not. Moss had never cared about humans.
He had frightened a child and would not even apologize. That stirred up a hornet's nest. The people nearby seemed to know the child's father, and they began taking turns berating the strangely dressed boy.
Moss remained completely indifferent. No matter how the humans scolded him, he stood there without moving.
But not caring inwardly was one thing; how it looked to outsiders was another.
The bandage-wrapped boy was surrounded and lectured by several burly adults. Though his appearance was indeed strange, his slender figure made it clear that he was still young.
Seeing the boy lower his head without saying a word, looking helpless and silent, some of the onlookers began to feel sorry for him. After all, what someone wore and how they dressed was their own freedom. Even if he had frightened a child, they should not be so aggressive.
Just as someone who could not stand the scene any longer was about to speak up, a man appeared in front of the boy at some point.
The man stood over six feet tall and was very handsome, but his gaze was fierce. One hand was tucked into his pocket, his thin lips curled slightly, and his face was filled with displeasure, as though he might start a fight at any moment.
He shielded the bandaged boy behind him, his voice carrying a mocking smile. "No wonder I couldn't find my kid. Turns out he was getting bullied here?"
"Why don't you guys tell me what happened?"
"Your kid's outfit scared my son. Apologize, or neither of you is leaving today." The child's father, Zhao Qi, stood with several of his brothers, his face dark. Clearly, he had no intention of letting this slide.
What a coincidence. Qi Chao had not intended to let this go easily either.
When he had spoken with Doctor yesterday, he had already learned that Moss was wrapped in bandages from head to toe. Qi Chao had been so excited then that he had wanted to see Moss immediately.
Wrapped in bandages from head to toe? That was so cool!
But when he arrived at the docking station the next day, he saw this scene.
"Sure. You apologize first."
Qi Chao had been stubborn and fierce in his youth. Later, after dropping out of school and struggling in society, his bad temper had mellowed somewhat. But some things never changed, no matter how many years passed. Moss was Lan Luo's older brother, which made him Qi Chao's junior. Not to mention that Qi Chao and Doctor were friends. With all those connections, Moss was practically his own kid.
Who could tolerate their own child being bullied?
He tugged at the corner of his mouth. "My kid was scared by you too. You apologize first, and then I'll consider whether to let my kid apologize."
An apology was impossible. It would never happen in this lifetime.
Moss being wrapped in bandages was indeed unusual, but Blue Star had no laws banning strange clothing. How he dressed was Moss's freedom. Scaring the child had been an accident. If Moss wanted to, he could apologize voluntarily, but no one could force him to apologize.
Zhao Qi and his brothers had not expected Qi Chao to be so unyielding. None of their expressions looked very good.
Moss watched the scene from behind him, confusion flashing through his dark eyes. He seemed unable to understand what Lan Luo's owner was trying to do.
A few drops of water fell from the sky.
Dolls could not get wet in the rain.
Qi Chao turned around and handed the flying vehicle key to Moss. In a gentle voice, he told Moss where the vehicle was and instructed him to wait inside first. After saying that, he went back to arguing with those grown men.
Moss stared fixedly at the back of Lan Luo's owner. Only after Qi Chao urged him again did he leave the platform.
Even after sitting in the passenger seat of the flying vehicle, Moss still could not understand Lan Luo's owner's thoughts.
The rain outside gradually grew heavier, splashing blossoms of water in the puddles. Looking through the window, all he could see was a hazy veil of mist.
Moss's bandages had been dampened by the rain. The fabric felt slightly wet and sticky, making him uncomfortable, but he did not care. His own bandages were still the most comfortable.
Half an hour later, Qi Chao returned. He carried the scent of rain, and his slightly curly black hair was damp as well. He had clearly been caught in the rain.
However, unlike his bedraggled appearance, he seemed to be in a good mood. Qi Chao turned to Moss with a smile and played him a video on his Light Brain.
In the video, several men apologized to Moss one after another.
Unlike their dark expressions when Moss had left, they now looked as if they had reached an agreement. Even their apologies sounded sincere.
Moss had never cared about humans, but seeing this, he became somewhat curious about how Qi Chao had managed it.
"These guys look pretty fierce, but they're actually just dumb brutes. I explained things to them, and they stopped making trouble." Qi Chao gave a brief explanation, never mentioning that he had also gone into an alley and fought them.
Qi Chao had not intended to fight at first, but there were many of them, and they were hot-tempered. After Moss left, they continued cursing and saying unpleasant things. Qi Chao could not endure it anymore. As it happened, the men asked him to go to an alley to "talk," so he agreed.
Qi Chao had been in plenty of group fights when he was young. Even if there were more people on the other side, there was no way he would lose. They barely touched him before they were already on the ground.
These people were not too bad. A loss was a loss, and they did not keep pestering him. After the fight, their relationship had actually improved quite a bit. When Qi Chao mentioned apologizing, they hesitated for a moment before readily agreeing.
Hearing Qi Chao's answer, Moss nodded. No expression could be seen on his bandage-wrapped face, or rather, he did not have much expression to begin with.
"Thank you."
Moss's voice was dry and hoarse.
Father had said that one should express gratitude after receiving help.
