But Ancestral Dragon Veins had their limits. They could order and circulate only so much of that essence.
Once they reached that limit, they ceased drawing any surplus from the cosmos. They merely kept the essence already on the star flowing.
That was why the strength of a life-bearing star inevitably depended on the number and strength of its Ancestral Dragon Veins. The more it had, the more essence it captured from the cosmos and could hold, and the stronger the beings born there became.
There were exceptions, of course. A peerless powerhouse could draw in far more essence than an Ancestral Dragon Vein.
