Background

The Lu Family dominated Lin County for roughly a century, becoming “half the sky” over the county through control of labor, commerce, local armed forces, and political offices. Ordinary workers at Lu Family Wharf faced deductions by overseers and were expected to secure protection from connected underworld figures; Su Xinghe had previously been cheated there before leaving the job 2.

The family also relied on tenant labor at Lu Family Farm, where Su Xinghe’s father and younger brother worked before the Su Family relocated to the city. Their farmsteads later became targets in the Lu Family’s own violent campaign against suspected enemies 3 28.

By the time of the conflict surrounding the Qian Family Trading Company and Veteran’s Trade House, the Lu Family had expanded its influence into Red Elegance Manor, the Public Security Office, the City Guard Army, and affiliated gangs. Their pursuit of stolen goods and a spear-wielding martial artist led to secret arrests, interrogations, forced mine labor, and the destruction of rival or inconvenient groups 44 57 59.

Rule over Lin County

The Lu Family initially functions as the county’s entrenched ruling force. Its control over the wharf, farms, taxes, and labor ensures that poor residents have little recourse against exploitation. Even local gang extortionists operate beneath the broader order maintained by the family and county authorities 2 4.

Qian Family Goods Conflict

After a shipment connected to the Qian Family disappears, the Lu Family begins a violent investigation. It gathers underworld leaders at Red Elegance Manor, targets suspected participants, and pressures affiliated forces not to repeat the Qian Family’s failure 12.

The investigation escalates into the destruction of the Veteran’s Trade House, the capture of Great River Gang members, and the imprisonment of laborers and martial artists in mine facilities. Survivors later conclude that someone within the Qian Family used the Great River Gang to shift blame for the theft of Lu Family goods 57 59.

War with White Ape Martial Academy

The family responds to the rise of White Ape Martial Academy by using the Public Security Office and allied gangs as proxies. White Ape disciples are arrested and transported to Red Elegance Manor, where Lu Zhengkun orders them sent to the mines for labor rather than immediately executed 57.

After Blackwind Stronghold is destroyed and prisoners escape, the Lu Family prepares a cleansing operation against hostile martial artists. It calls upon Red Elegance Manor to eradicate the survivors at Azure Cloud Mountain Mine and attempts to restore control over Lin County’s security institutions 73.

Loss of Lin County

The clan’s direct descendants flee Lin County after its setbacks, allowing the White Ape Martial Academy and Great River Gang to become the dominant forces in the western districts. Despite this retreat, Lu Xuanji’s imperial status prevents the family from becoming an easy target 90 115.

Lu Xuanji later returns after reaching the Fourth-Rank Baleful Convergence Realm and becoming Junior Guardian of the Crown Prince. His arrival enables the Lu Family to retaliate against Su Xinghe’s allies, destroying their teahouse, scattering survivors, and forcing Su Xinghe’s family into hiding 115.

Destruction of the Lin County Estate

Su Xinghe, Xie Guang, the White Ape Martial Academy, and the Beheading Gang launch a direct assault during Lu Zhengkun’s concubine-taking banquet. Su Xinghe kills Lu Tianhua and a Sixth-Rank palace eunuch, then defeats Lu Zhengkun; Big Bear delivers the final execution 117.

The following assault overwhelms the Lu Family estate. Hongxiu is killed, the estate’s guests and residents are slaughtered, and the family’s Lin County power structure collapses 118.

Lu Xuanji’s Return

Lu Xuanji returns to investigate the massacre and rejects the official claim that the Peaceful Heaven Sect alone was responsible. Evidence involving White Tiger True Force pushes his suspicion toward the Li Family, reviving the long-standing conflict between the two lineages 124.
