He is also stubbornly ambitious. Though repeatedly dismissed as too old and too poor to become a martial artist, he relies on relentless practice, calculated use of resources, and his Fate Trait to surpass expectations. 11 12 35

His caution does not prevent ruthlessness. When threatened, he uses deception, ambushes, explosives, poison-like powders, and lethal force rather than insisting on an honorable fight. 14 15 19 49

As his enemies and responsibilities have grown, Su Xinghe has become more willing to meet danger directly. He led captives against the Scarlet Cloud Mountain bandits, destroyed hostile martial forces, and massacred Inspection Bureau attackers after reaching Grandmaster level. 58 79 151

Su Xinghe survives the attack on Veteran’s Trade House by detecting Bewildering Incense after reaching Inner Tempering. During the chaos, he and Uncle Cripple kill Qingmei, a transmission disciple of the Peaceful Heaven Sect, before Su Xinghe escapes with the evidence and loot. 17 19
