Ties Reach the Eastern Sea
Pei Huai stared at Su Che in shock.
Qin Si's soul, or more precisely, his spirit, is gone.
Humans are said to have three souls and seven spirits.
The Imperial Academy's compilation, the Taiping Yulan, states that essence and vital energy constitute the soul, while physical form constitutes the spirit.
Qin the Night Watchman's physical body is fine now, but his soul has inexplicably left his body.
"If the soul leaves the body, it's either because of a demon, or the person themselves is a demon."
Su Che gave a comment.
Yin Spirit projection can also be considered a form of the soul leaving the body. However, Su Che only said this to Pei Huai.
"What does Judicial Punisher Su mean? Are you implying that I have failed in my duty of oversight?" Pei Huai asked solemnly. "This official..."
"I didn't mean that, Your Excellency, please calm down."
What could be so important about a night watchman who's been cheating on his wife? Instead of killing him, we're going to steal his soul.
"Since the man has already lost his soul, and this case involves a sorcerer, I will take him away. Magistrate Pei should have no objection, right?"
Su Che clapped his hands and stretched his body.
"Certainly."
Su Che said he wanted to take the person away, and Pei Huai naturally agreed.
Keeping someone like that in jail is like keeping a hot potato. If anything happens to him, Pei Huai will be unable to defend himself.
"However, since this matter involves Tian'an County, we will still need to delay Judicial Punisher Su for a while."
Pei Huai waved his hand, signaling the clerks and yamen runners around him to leave.
After the prison was cleared out, Pei Huai looked at Su Che with a serious expression.
"Judicial Punisher Su, what exactly happened? Please tell me the truth."
"It's nothing, the case is solved."
"It's broken?"
"Certainly."
Su Che nodded.
"How was it broken?"
"The sorcerer has been found. Don't worry, Magistrate Pei, I'll go and capture him right away. Please lend me another squad of constables, Magistrate Pei."
Su Che turned around.
"Who is this sorcerer?"
"I shouldn't have said that, lest the sorcerer become suspicious."
Su Che looked at Pei Huai: "However, I consider Magistrate Pei one of my own, while the sorcerer is the manager of Tongde Tower."
Why is that?
Pei Huai certainly knew whose property Tongde Tower belonged to.
"This involves classified information, so we won't disclose it to the public. Once the investigation is complete, Magistrate Pei can forward the case to the Imperial Demon Hunters, and I'll have someone deliver the case file to Magistrate Pei."
"Li Xing, Tongde Tower is..."
" From the Langya Wang Clan."
Su Che looked at Pei Huai.
"If there's nothing else, Magistrate Pei, I'll be leaving now."
"Judicial Punisher Su, you should think twice." Pei Huai looked at Su Che: "Ci Prefecture will soon be personally governed by the Prince of Wuling, and his chief secretary is..."
"A case is a case, but it can't be something the Prince of Wuling or the Langya Wang Clan instigated." Su Che smiled. "Don't worry, Magistrate Pei."
Who is the sorcerer?
Su Che, of course, had no idea.
However, his opponent was clearly playing a chaotic game. Su Che responded with chaos in return.
Regardless, a Vajra Yaksha sits at the entrance of Tongde Tower.
Although that guy is unconscious now, things are definitely not going to get out of hand with Tongde Tower.
When Su Che attacked Tongde Tower, Yaksha personally stepped in to block him.
There must be something wrong here.
Therefore, Su Che decided to frame the manager of Tongde Tower.
Firstly, to see if they had any connection with the Vajra Yaksha. Secondly, to send the wrong message to the enemy hiding in the shadows.
My previous actions were all too obviously purposeful.
This isn't a detective agency, so why talk about the only truth? The imperial Imperial Demon Hunters, these henchmen of the court, are best at framing people.
As long as innocent people aren't wrongly accused, it's fine.
Pei Huai glanced at Su Che and slowly shook his head.
"Please understand, I cannot lend you the yamen runner."
"No problem."
Su Che could understand Pei Huai.
Lending people now is tantamount to risking a confrontation with the Langya Wang Clan.
Pei Huai, coming from a humble background, naturally dared not do so.
"These are turbulent times; Magistrate Pei, please take good care of yourself."
Su Che waved his hand.
"No need to see it off."
Today, a guest arrived in the small courtyard behind Tongde Tower.
Lady Xie, dressed in formal attire, sat upright in the main hall. Her maid stood quietly behind her.
Smoke billowed from the animal-shaped incense burner, the wisps of smoke making the place seem like a fairyland.
A middle-aged man sat upright opposite Lady Xie. He wore a lake-blue long robe, but his hair was thick and bushy. His long, narrow eyes, like snake pupils, were a deep blue color.
"This Ningshan White Mist tea is indeed a fine tea. It is a wonderful product cultivated by the Langya Wang Clan. Its aroma can nourish the soul, truly a blessing for health and well-being."
"Deer Divine Lord, you are too kind. The Rakshasa Sea with countless rare treasures; such coarse tea is probably not worthy of your Dharma Eye."
Lady Xie glanced at the man opposite her.
I never expected that the Rakshasa Sea would send him.
"These past few years, we've been locked in a fierce battle with the Plain Maiden Cult in the Eastern Sea. How could we possibly have the time or inclination to appreciate tea and incense?" Deer Divine Lord shook his head. "It's difficult."
"I thought Shikshananda would come with the Divine Lord, so I prepared a small gift for him. I'll have to ask the Divine Lord to help me present it."
"Him."
Deer Divine Lord stuck out his tongue and licked his lips. "I just escaped from the Hungry Ghost Path, where have I ever seen this wonderful world? I was going to take a look around, but who knew that a rather powerful swordsman would suddenly appear out of nowhere, kill several of his clansmen, and say he was going to avenge his people and seek revenge."
Lu Shenjun put the teacup aside and stared at Lady Xie's jade-like skin below her neck.
"If he knew that the guard by the lady's side was gone, I wonder what he would do. The lady probably knows that their branch of the family is small; he only brought two Sixth Grade guards with him..."
"However, on the other hand, Madam is naturally beautiful, and I, Lu, would never allow him to lay a finger on her." Deer Divine Lord laughed heartily, "If anyone's going to lay a hand on her, it will be me, Lu, doing it myself..."
"How could a lowly concubine of my humble appearance possibly catch the Dharma Eye of the Divine Lord? The Divine Lord is a master who has attained the Fifth Grade Golden Core realm..."
"It's acceptable."
Deer Divine Lord stood up. "Lady Xie, what's the point of worldly riches? Why not come with me to the Eastern Sea..."
"Deer Divine Lord, you've drunk too much seawater."
Lady Xie smiled gently.
A domineering aura suddenly rose from the maid beside Lady Xie.
"Who are you?"
Deer Divine Lord retreated several steps, his honed intuition desperately reminding him that he was not facing a mere maidservant, but a ferocious beast from the Primordial Wilderness.
"She's just a Zhu Yan that hasn't fully grown up."
Lady Xie took a delicate sip of tea.
"I have two more things to tell you, Divine Lord. The first is that the swordsman who killed the Shikshananda people is none other than Su Che, whom you are investigating this time."
"Secondly, you'd better hurry up and put away those junk items you've hidden in Tian'an County, because this Judicial Punisher Su has already set his sights on you." Lady Xie's eyes were full of frost. "I've already covered for you, but you'd better think carefully about what happens next."
She touched the maid's face.
"Please see Deer Divine Lord off for me."
