The Yellow Heaven Road Draws Near, Numinous Awareness in the Heart (Part One)

Long ago, Su Che had wondered about a technical question.

Why had the Devil Sect, once a single family, split between the northern and southern ends of this world? If the earth was a sphere, one could travel east across the Eastern Sea and eventually reach the Western Kingdom.

If so, would Sword Cultivation practitioners, who sought a clear path through everything, wage a great battle every year against the Buddhist School, which insisted on Karmic Cause and Effect in all things?

Could this world be like Warhammer Fantasy, with holes in the ozone at both poles that let Heavenly Demons pour down in endless waves?

But though the Devil Sect and the Heavenly Demons shared the word "demon," they were still bitter enemies.

Now those questions had found their answers.

The Northern and Southern Devil Sects might differ in doctrine and belief, but they were still one family. The reason they lived at opposite poles might be simple.

The point where this planet had split was probably the heart of their ancestral home.

When heaven and earth tore apart, they were naturally cut off from each other at the northern and southern poles. Over time, differences in doctrine and belief were only to be expected.

Many of Su Che's other questions were answered as well.

For instance, why did those Dharma-Ending Lords wandering the Outer Void refuse to leave?

The answer now seemed simple: they had come for the feast.

The Ninefold Heavenly Firmament separated the Outer Void from the world below. But as the planet broke apart, the Ninefold Heavenly Firmament would lose what sustained it and inevitably vanish. Wouldn't the countless living beings and cultivators below make a splendid banquet then?

They lingered here without hurry only because they were waiting for the dishes to finish cooking.
