In the Ancient Era, the Devil Sect had not yet become a major force. By the present era, it dominates the northern and southern poles of the world, even if its principal branches are little known among ordinary people of the Central Land 198.

The sect’s northern and southern division emerged as the Ninefold Celestial Firmament weakened at both poles. This allowed some Outer Heavenly Demons to enter or influence the world, leading to separate strongholds: northern factions are comparatively independent and guarded by native Devil Lords, while southern factions are closely tied to Dharma-Ending Lords beyond the heavens 227.

The Devil Sect generally avoids openly operating in the Central Land. Mysterious Capital Palace restricts excessive displays of power there, while Mystic Gate and sword sects treat exposed Devil Sect cultivators as prey to be hunted collectively. Nevertheless, blood-talismans discovered in Tian’an County indicated that Devil Sect methods had begun infiltrating the region through concealed operations 217.
