After fooling around with Aisling over the pink toad for quite a while, Aisling's mood improved considerably. Under Roy's teasing, she finally put political matters out of her mind, at least for the time being.
"Ready to Apparate?"
Although everyone in Britain knew Roy could Apparate, they still had to keep up appearances. After looking around and making sure no one was nearby, Roy gallantly extended a hand to Aisling, preparing to take her away from the Ministry of Magic and back to school.
"Actually, I... sigh, forget it. Let's go."
Aisling had originally wanted to say that she could Apparate now too, but considering Roy's emotional intelligence was surprisingly on point today, she did not refuse his offer. After hesitating briefly, she gently placed her hand on Roy's elbow.
"After you, Sir Smee..."
"At your service, Miss Grindelwald."
Roy smiled and was just about to cast the spell when his expression suddenly changed. Pulling the bewildered Aisling along, he hurriedly ducked aside and hid in a corner.
"What are you doing? Why are you acting so sneaky?"
"Shh—don't talk. Evanesco—"
Roy drew his wand, his expression grave as he cast a Disillusionment Charm. In an instant, Aisling felt a thick, ice-cold liquid pour down over her head. When she looked again, her limbs, torso, and even the shadow beneath her feet had all vanished.
Aisling wanted to look up and see how Roy was doing, but his Disillusionment Charm, enhanced by Ancient Magic, was far too powerful. Roy's concealed form was completely indistinguishable from the surrounding environment, leaving Aisling unable to spot even the slightest trace of him. If Roy were not still gripping her arm with tremendous force, she would have suspected that he had already left.
"What an overbearing Disillusionment Charm. How had his magical power become
