The next day was the weekend, and the lower-year students across the school finally welcomed two days of rest. After staying up late for Astronomy class the previous night, Roy slept until nearly noon before slowly waking up.
When he opened his eyes, Cedric was no longer at the bedside with his head buried in a book, and Roy instantly let out a huge sigh of relief.
If Cedric kept dragging the entire dorm into this insane grind even on the weekend, Roy would have no choice but to "stab his brother in both sides."
He sat up in bed and stretched comfortably. As his gaze swept around, he suddenly noticed an unfamiliar envelope placed by his pillow.
"Who sent me a letter?"
Roy picked up the envelope. It felt heavy, clearly containing something, yet there was no signature on it.
"Could this be someone playing a prank on me?"
Puzzled, he opened the envelope, and a familiar object immediately came into view.
"Isn't this Professor Thorn's gold-trimmed fountain pen?"
The exquisite, expensive pen lay quietly inside the envelope. A small note slipped out with it, written in elegant cursive: Accept my gift. I hope you study well.
Roy froze for a moment. In all his life, he had never received such a valuable gift. This pen was worth nearly a hundred Galleons. Professor Thorn was far too generous.
Since arriving in this magical world, this was the first time someone had treated him with such sincerity. Roy's heart warmed, and he was deeply moved.
He wanted to prepare a return gift, but after thinking it over and over, he had nothing presentable to offer. None of the little treasures he had collected at the orphanage had come with him.
After some thought, Roy carefully put away the pen and note, then took out some stationery and earnestly wrote Professor Thorn a reply.
The contents were simple, just a single short sentence, but it was especially sincere: Thank you for your kindness, Professor. I will not disappoint your faith in me.
After handing the note to Cedric's owl, Roy suddenly thought of the children at the orphanage.
"I wonder how they're doing. Especially Mia. I wonder how her health has been lately."
He had sent a letter to the orphanage, but the children there apparently had no way to contact Hogwarts. If he wanted to stay in touch with them, buying an owl of his own was essential.
Without thinking much about it, Roy directly woke Connor and Gabriel, who were still sleeping with their heads under the blankets. As he left the dormitory, he saw Cedric sitting in the common room, quietly chatting with several older students.
Roy called the others over and headed to the dining hall with them for lunch. But after eating, he found an excuse to slip away alone.
Roy headed straight for the Forbidden Forest. The weather was not particularly good that day. The gray, overcast sky was dim and oppressive, the most common sight in Britain throughout the year.
Roy spent the entire afternoon alone in the Forbidden Forest, continuing to build his little wooden house. After endlessly repeating the process of polishing, casting, and constructing, he finally finished building all four walls by the time darkness had completely fallen.
The frame of the wooden house had now taken shape. Only the final roofing work remained, and he could easily finish those scattered tasks tomorrow when he had time.
Looking at the little house he had built brick by brick with his own hands, a powerful sense of accomplishment rose from the depths of his heart.
After spending the entire afternoon doing physical labor, Roy's stomach was already empty, and waves of hunger hit him. But the school dining hall had long since stopped serving food, so he could no longer get a hot meal.
For a Hufflepuff student, though, this was hardly a problem. The Hogwarts kitchens were right next to the Hufflepuff common room.
Roy hurried to the portrait of the Hufflepuff woman in the corridor and lightly tickled the green pear in the bowl within the painting. A green doorknob immediately appeared.
When he pushed the door open, the entire back kitchen came into view. Dozens of house-elves bustled back and forth without pause. The school's meals and countless daily chores were all handled by them.
Seeing someone enter, quite a few elves instinctively hid to the side. Only one braver elf stepped forward to ask what he needed.
Roy honestly said he was just a little hungry, and the house-elves immediately brought him a huge pile of food.
There was enough food to last him quite some time, and Roy did not refuse. He knew that abruptly turning down food was equivalent to criticism and neglect in a house-elf's eyes. All he had to do was cast a preservation charm on it, so why not?
After eating his fill, Roy did not return to the common room. Instead, he turned and headed toward the other side of the first underground level.
That was where the Potions classroom was located, and next to it was the Potions ingredient storeroom. Roy was naturally not going to catch up with Snape. His real purpose was to "borrow" some Potions ingredients from Snape.
Roy had specifically checked the Potions class schedules of everyone in the school. According to his investigation, Snape would not be in the Potions classroom on Saturday nights.
That made it the perfect time for Roy to "borrow" ingredients. It was not as if he could really go and ask Snape for Potions ingredients.
Spells could be practiced anytime and anywhere, and alchemy materials could be reused for practice. Only Potions ingredients could be used just once, regardless of whether the brew succeeded or failed. A poor guy like Roy simply could not afford to practice Potions.
Sure enough, just as Roy had expected, the door to the Potions ingredient storeroom was tightly locked. Snape had also placed a powerful counter-charm on it. Ordinary unlocking charms could not open it, while overly powerful ones would trigger an alarm.
Roy had long been prepared for such anti-theft measures. Every kind of magic had a weakness, and Roy's solution to Snape's counter-charm was very simple—pick the lock directly.
Picking the lock was equivalent to duplicating a key. Magic had no response at all to this kind of physical method.
As a special operations agent, lockpicking was child's play for Roy, who had spent years cracking safes across Azshara. He opened this lock, which might have been centuries old, in no time.
After entering the ingredient storeroom, Roy moved quickly and immediately began stuffing all kinds of materials into his bag.
Afraid of making Snape suspicious, Roy only took a tiny amount of each ingredient. Wandering through this treasure vault devoted solely to Potions, he also saw many extremely rare and precious medicinal materials.
Unable to contain his delight, Roy began humming a song: "In the summer... find each other..."
Aisling kept her agreement with Snape and arrived at the Potions classroom at eight on Saturday evening, ready to receive Snape's one-on-one instruction.
Aisling had arrived early to wait in the Potions classroom. Sitting beside the podium and looking at the empty room, she silently reviewed the Potions knowledge she had learned.
"What's that sound?"
Someone seemed to be singing in the ingredient storeroom beside her. Aisling thought it was Snape, so to avoid an awkward encounter, she quietly opened the door connecting the storeroom and the classroom.
The storeroom lights were on, and sounds continued to come from within.
"I feel like I got the remedy..."
This time, Aisling moved silently, so Roy's map did not show any sound indicators.
"Roy Smee! What are you doing here?!"
Those familiar green pants came into view, and Aisling could not help crying out.
At that moment, Snape also arrived at the classroom. He saw the things Aisling had brought placed on the table, but Aisling herself was nowhere to be seen. Then he noticed the open storeroom door and peered inside in confusion.
"Aisling, are you in there?"
It was over. Roy felt like someone who had been caught stealing food from a package dropped by the Assault Team.
With nowhere left to run, Roy only wanted to throw back his head and howl.
Everyone watching, do you think this Haki Bee can still get out alive?
