The arc left them fighting each other during Day of Freedom, with Xia Mi proposing a final match to decide who would win three months of dating privileges.

• Li Lin and Xia Mi sparred before leaving Beijing for Cassel College, where Professor Manstein greeted them and Li Lin found Caesar waiting in Dorm 403.
• Caesar welcomed Li Lin, offered him a Student Union position, and introduced him to campus while Li Lin and Xia Mi attended classes and learned about the risks of their special 3E Exam.
• Angers personally proctored the exam, and Li Lin mastered earth during a vision of Toph and a giant dragon before waking after destroying his desk and chair.
• Li Lin answered all ten exam questions and earned S-Rank with the Word Spirit Rock Flow, while Xia Mi received A-Rank and joined him in negotiating a million-dollar Martial Arts Club with Caesar.
• Li Lin demonstrated Rock Flow in the Word Spirit test, raising a massive pillar before his domain collapsed and Schneider saved the footage to report to Angers.
• As Day of Freedom began, Li Lin and Xia Mi hid from the fighting between the Student Union and Lionheart Society until Xia Mi shot three attackers and turned on the Student Union.
• Li Lin fought through the teaching building, defeated Chu Zihang, and knocked out Su Qian while Xia Mi defeated the remaining fighters with a rocket launcher and autocannon.

Li Lin and Xia Mi grew closer through dates, a dangerous War Practice Class mission, and their studies of Dragon Blood. After Li Lin moved into Norton Hall and made progress with Blood Rage, the group prepared to investigate the Molotov Cocktails in Japan.
