While the Asgardians inside rushed to save their people, Surtur stared in surprise at Asgard, now coated in a thin layer of frost.

He did not know what had happened inside, but his plan to steam the Asgardians to death and make them suffer had clearly failed.

Then he was done playing.

Surtur raised the greatsword in his hand and began hammering at Asgard's shield.

Inside Asgard, Thor held Loki in his arms. He felt the whole palace trembling faintly and had no idea what to do.

"Go to Earth. Find someone to help us."

Loki's voice was weak. He had poured too much power into his bloodline and could no longer do anything himself. Fortunately, an intelligent program controlled the defense system, so he did not have to operate it.

Thor nodded, summoned Stormbreaker into his hand, and raised it.

The Bifrost pierced the ceiling and descended upon them.

Just as Thor and Loki were about to leave through the Bifrost, Surtur struck from outside Asgard.

He saw the Bifrost soaring into the sky, ran a hand along the Twilight Sword, and lit the runes of flame upon it. With a sweeping slash, he severed the Bifrost summoned by Stormbreaker.

"Looking for reinforcements? Dream on."

Surtur laughed, but another beam of light rose from the energy bridge in the distance.

He turned in time to see Heimdall's whole body surge with magic before he vanished in a burst of light.

Damn it. I need to hurry.

Surtur turned back and resumed his assault on Asgard's shield.

Why is this shell so tough?

Sylvie sat across from The Ancient One, asking her about magical techniques. Watching the glow of magic in Sylvie's hand, The Ancient One nodded.

*The Asgardian royal bloodline really is enviable. They're born with extraordinary energy
