Thor is direct, boastful, impulsive, and intensely proud of his identity as the God of Thunder. During his exile, he initially measures himself through Mjolnir and reacts badly to humiliation, threats to his weapon, or challenges to his status. His attachment to the hammer is so extreme that he abandons a sunset with Jane to chase it when it flies away. 47 98

Exile on Earth

Thor arrives on Earth stripped of his divine power and is immediately humiliated by a car accident, a stun gun, hospital restraints, and his inability to lift Mjolnir. Lu Qi presents himself as Thor’s newly recognized uncle through Odin’s token, which Thor initially dismisses as a forgery. 46 47

Lu Qi forces Thor into the Shadow Dimension and repeatedly challenges him to determine whether he is truly the God of Thunder or merely the “Hammer God.” Thor’s divine power awakens under the pressure, allowing him to reclaim Mjolnir and accept Lu Qi’s claimed family status. 47

Life on Earth and the Frost Giant Attack

Thor remains on Earth with Jane Foster, Darcy Lewis, and Erik Selvig. He becomes engrossed in mobile games, developing a close bond with Jane while neglecting the political crisis in Asgard. 48 49

When Frost Giants attack the town, Thor recognizes that civilians must be protected before he charges into battle. He returns to Asgard after Lu Qi suspects that Heimdall’s silence signals a larger threat. 50

Loki’s Rebellion and Thanos’s First Attack
