Background

Galacta spent centuries wandering the universe after Galactus gave her a spaceship and multifunctional toolkit so she could seek a livelier life. Other worlds repeatedly rejected her because of her father's reputation and her inherited hunger. Before meeting Lu Qi, she hid on Earth and survived by consuming invading aliens, pathogens, dimensional beings, and avatars of Dimensional Demon Gods—sometimes going years between meals 112 113 190.

She approached Lu Qi after he became Earth's recognized ruler and requested a temporary residence permit. Having confirmed that she controlled her appetite and had already protected Earth, Lu Qi issued a handwritten permit and recruited her for his emerging Earth-protection organization, paying her in Dark Energy Crystals 112.

Galacta's hunger was caused by a regenerative Cosmic Tapeworm within her. Its digestion rapidly converted consumed energy into growth, leaving her hungry again within hours and making her extraordinarily expensive to feed 113 114. Lu Qi initially extracted its Devouring Source to unlock the Shadow Devourer Soldier, temporarily suppressing the tapeworm's digestive effect 114.
