Kara Became a Monster

When was the moment a man grew up?

For Li Ang, perhaps it was when he became a "godfather."

He had never had any ideals before. Life was short, and he only wanted to enjoy himself while he could.

But after Kara came into his life, he felt that he had grown up.

At the very least, he had to give Kara the best environment.

He wanted her to grow up healthy, develop proper values, and become "Supergirl."

So what Li Ang looked forward to most every day was seeing Kara after work. Making her happy was what mattered most.

Before Kara, Li Ang felt that he could already see the rest of his life.

Like countless party animals in America, he would drown himself in drink and dreams, fuck like crazy, and chase fleeting, intense pleasure.

But now, things were different.

So Li Ang was tempted as well, but he did not agree to Sophia's offer. He only said that he needed to think about it.

Sophia was not surprised either. She had never expected Li Ang to agree so easily.

If Li Ang had agreed right away, she would not have dared to use him.

If he could betray Penguin so easily, he could just as easily betray her in the future.

Thus, the carefree Sophia simply took her leave.

She wore an off-white women's suit, and no one could tell that she was the "Executioner."

"What did she say to you?"

Once Sophia had gone far enough, Li Ang immediately asked Kara.

Kara walked over and said, "She asked about you. I don't like her, Godfather."

"Me neither."

"Then why didn't you let me do it?"

Kara asked.

Li Ang could only patiently explain.

He could not simply tell Kara not to do such things. He had to let her understand why she could not.

"She is the leader of the Falcone Family. If you reveal your abilities, we won't be able to stay in Gotham. Do you still want to run everywhere like before?"

Kara immediately pursed her lips, understanding the reason.

Then she said, "Then if I wear a mask like Spider-Man, can I become a superhero?"

Kryptonians could "hypnotize" people psychologically and even use glasses to confuse others.

That was why Superman's family had never needed masks.

Li Ang thought for a moment before saying, "You're not like Spider-Man."

"Then who am I like?"

"You're yourself. One of a kind."

Li Ang pinched her cheek.

Kara had a cute look, and there was still some baby fat on her face.

She was clearly only in her teens, yet she still enjoyed hearing that.

"Godfather, let's not agree to her. I think it's nice living here, and I don't care what school I go to."

With her super brain, Kara only needed to glance through a book once to remember it, so an elite school was not particularly useful to her.

But Li Ang knew that the most important thing about school was the environment.

"Let's eat first."

Li Ang did not commit either way.

Over the weekend, Kara went out early in the morning.

She was going on a two-day outdoor event with the school. For Li Ang, this was a rare chance to relax.

Although he had grown used to being with Kara, he still treasured opportunities like this.

He had already prepared himself not to come home that night.

So Li Ang carefully groomed himself, shaved clean, and prepared a proper suit.

They said clothes made the man. Li Ang looked at himself in the mirror and found that he was still quite handsome.

At noon, he ate something simple and got himself into the right state of mind.

But before he could head out, he received a call at home.

"Hello, are you Kara's family?"

"Yes."

Li Ang found the voice familiar. It seemed to be Kara's teacher.

He froze. Could something have happened to Kara?

"Please come to the scene immediately..."

"What happened?"

Li Ang hurriedly asked.

The teacher did not answer. Instead, she said, "You'll know when you get here. I'm sorry."

"Sorry for what?"

The call had already ended, and Li Ang immediately lost all interest in going out for fun.

He rushed outside, went downstairs to hail a cab, and gave the driver the address.

The driver was an older white man. Seeing how anxious Li Ang looked, he asked, "Something important?"

"Of course. Something seems to have happened to my goddaughter. Please hurry."

"No problem. Hold on tight."

The older white driver said the words, then immediately threw the car into gear and floored the gas.

The distance had not been far to begin with, and they arrived in just over twenty minutes.

Coventry was north of Robinson Park, in the heart of Gotham. It was also one of the rare areas without gangs.

Gotham High School's event had originally planned to cross Metro Bridge to Metropolis, but before they could even leave Gotham, something had gone wrong.

"We're here."

The older white driver said, "Thirty-four dollars."

Li Ang simply handed him two twenties, effectively leaving a tip, since the man had sped the entire way.

"Thank you. Have a wonderful day."

The driver immediately smiled.

But clearly, this day would be difficult to make wonderful.

Li Ang got out of the car and looked up to see the famed Arkham Asylum on the opposite bank.

Arkham Asylum was located on the outskirts of the city, like a small isolated island, built to resemble a prison.

The Gotham River cut off Arkham Asylum on all sides, and only three connected bridges allowed passage.

Li Ang did not spare another glance for that prestigious institution full of talent. Instead, he looked at the situation by the Gotham River.

Several police cars were parked there. A school bus stood by the riverbank, while many students clung to one another and cried. The teachers were comforting them.

"She really is a monster."

"I don't want to be classmates with a monster. It's too scary."

"I'm transferring schools. Oh my God..."

The voices reached Li Ang's ears, and he immediately walked over.

"Ms. Emma."

Li Ang hurriedly found Kara's teacher.

"Mr. Li Ang? Kara is over there."

Ms. Emma immediately pointed to the side. Kara was sitting alone on a chair, and none of the other students dared approach her.

At the sight of this, Li Ang's heart inexplicably ached, and he strode over.

Kara was soaked from head to toe. With her physique, she obviously would not catch a cold, yet she still held herself tightly.

Seeing her looking hurt and vulnerable, Li Ang quickly pulled her into his arms.

His suit was instantly soaked through, but Li Ang did not care.

"What happened, Kara?"

"Godfather!"

Kara immediately burst into tears in his arms. "I'm sorry!"

In all this time, Li Ang had never seen her cry so heartbreakingly. Even when she remembered everything about Krypton, she had only been filled with melancholy.

"It's all right now. I'm here."

Li Ang hurriedly stroked her blonde hair, helping her calm down.

Only then did he learn what had happened.

It turned out that while they were by the river, the school bus suddenly lost control. The driver panicked and swerved to avoid an oncoming vehicle, sending the bus straight into the river.

At that moment, Kara forgot Li Ang's warning. She revealed her abilities and came to their aid.

She alone pushed the sunken school bus back up from the water. Naturally, every student and teacher saw it.

And that was how things had become what they were now.

Kara had become a monster.
