Can You Fly?

Li Ang hung up the phone and marveled. Was this the power of money?

The principal of Louise Memorial Middle School had not only personally called Kara to invite her to attend, but had also been practically obsequious, afraid she might refuse.

This was one of Gotham's elite schools, somewhere ordinary people could never get into.

Not only were they begging Kara to attend, they were also offering a full scholarship and waiving every tuition fee...

At least Wayne Enterprises was a legitimate, lawful corporation, not a gang.

No longer worried, Li Ang immediately said, "Let's go out and have some fun today."

"Do what?"

Kara was immediately delighted.

She was still a girl in her early teens, after all. Loving fun was only natural.

"Test your abilities."

Li Ang gave Kara a head pat.

"Huh? Godfather, haven't you always told me to hide my abilities?"

"Yes, but you need to know your limits first. That way, when you need to use them, you'll be able to handle them with ease."

Kara felt that her godfather had changed somewhat.

It seemed he was no longer focused solely on keeping her safe.

For Kara, who dreamed of becoming a superhero, that was naturally a good thing.

"Biological Force Field."

Most importantly, it could protect Kara's clothes from being damaged by high speed.

Then Kara released the tension in her body, and her entire figure shot into the sky like a cannonball.

A deep crater was instantly left in the ground.

Even with Li Ang's eyesight, he could only watch Kara vanish into the horizon.

Kara's first attempt at flight was merely an instinctive leap, yet she shot at least several hundred, perhaps even a thousand meters into the air.

For Kara, it felt as though Earth's gravity was gradually disappearing. The world grew smaller and smaller in her eyes, yet she could still clearly see every corner of it.

At that moment, she felt as if she had broken through her limits and was soaring freely, like a fledgling eagle wanting to see just how high the sky truly was.

But Kara soon felt gravity again.

She plummeted at incredible speed, leaving another huge crater in the ground with a boom. Seeing that she had startled people, she stuck out her tongue before leaping away again.

Caught up in the fun, Kara did not immediately return. On her second leap, she jumped even higher than before, but still had not learned how to fly.

The Biological Force Field wrapped around her, keeping her from being hurt.

The third time...

She shot directly through the clouds and saw a passenger plane cruising nearby.

"Mom, there's someone on the clouds!"

A bored child seated on the plane saw the sight outside the window and immediately called out to his mother beside him.

His mother turned to look. There was nothing outside the window, only a stretch of pure white clouds.

"You saw wrong. How could there possibly be someone this high up?"

His mother smiled and stroked his hair, then began explaining it to him.

"No, I saw someone! She was a pretty girl, about my age."

The child immediately insisted.

"Oh, maybe you've reached puberty. Do you have a girl you like?"

At his mother's words, the child immediately blushed.

His mother had guessed right. He really did have a girl he secretly liked.

Could it really have been his imagination?

Before long, he began to doubt whether he had seen wrong after all.

"Was it a bird? Or a plane?"

The child fell into deep confusion.

Kara did not care that someone had seen her. She was already plunging downward again.

Unfortunately, New Jersey was on the East Coast, and the entire eastern side was ocean.

So without the Biological Force Field supporting her in flight, Kara's leap sent her straight into the sea.

Boom!

The enormous splash was like a nuclear bomb had been dropped into the ocean.

If there had been professional judges around, they definitely would have given that dive a zero.

Splash!

Kara popped her head straight out of the water. All around her, startled fish fled in every direction, desperately swimming away from her.

"Ha!"

"Ha ha ha ha!"

Kara burst into laughter, feeling incomparably exhilarated. Since coming to Earth, she had never been this happy.

Freedom was in her nature. It turned out using her superpowers without restraint felt this amazing.

It was just a pity that she still had not learned how to fly.

Then Kara saw a fishing boat heading toward her in the distance. She immediately came to her senses and hurriedly swam toward shore.

She still had to go miserably to school tomorrow!
