The next day, Papal Hall still exuded an air of majesty and solemnity. Only the Pope, the Pope's disciples, personal guardian Douluo, and directly subordinate red-clad bishops were permitted to reside here.
Ordinarily, only elders, worshippers, or those summoned by the Pope and formally announced could set foot on Papal Mountain and enter Papal Hall. That symbol of glory stood like a monument in everyone's hearts.
Because Qian Xunji, the young master of Spirit Hall, had fainted, Golden Bell Douluo and Silver Bell Douluo were currently in Qian Xunji's palace. At the moment, the two of them were idly chatting.
"How did the young master suddenly faint?" Golden Bell Douluo frowned slightly, his face filled with confusion.
Silver Bell Douluo looked equally grave. After pondering for a moment, he said, "It is indeed strange. With the High Priest around, who could possibly harm the young master? I also don't think it was caused by an external force. A problem during cultivation, though, isn't impossible. The young master is exceptionally talented and usually trains with great diligence. He may have been too eager to improve his strength and pushed himself too hard during cultivation, causing his Soul Power to become unstable and making him faint."
Golden Bell Douluo nodded slightly. "That makes sense. The young master has always borne great responsibilities and held himself to strict standards. But cultivation cannot be rushed. One careless mistake could put him in danger."
Silver Bell Douluo sighed. "I hope it is only a minor problem and that he wakes up soon. If cultivation has harmed his body, that will be troublesome."
A trace of worry flashed through Golden Bell Douluo's eyes. "As the young master's guardian Douluo, we failed to notice any potential problems with his cultivation in advance. We have truly neglected our duties. Fortunately, the High Priest did not hold us accountable."
Silver Bell Douluo nodded in agreement. "Exactly. Still, a mishap in cultivation can range from minor to severe. We have no idea how badly the young master was injured this time."
After a brief silence, Golden Bell Douluo seemed to recall something and said, "Right, I heard that Saintess Bibi Dong also fainted from spiritual shock after absorbing her fifth Soul Ring beyond the normal limit."
Silver Bell Douluo was slightly startled. "That happened? The Saintess is really going all out. Still, it must be said that she and the young master truly are worthy of being master and disciple. Both are so competitive at such a young age, so utterly reckless when it comes to cultivation."
Golden Bell Douluo shook his head slightly. "Absorbing a Soul Ring beyond one's limit is far too dangerous. What the Saintess did was truly risky. But it also shows her courage and determination."
Silver Bell Douluo nodded. "Indeed. But that is precisely why she was able to stand out among Spirit Hall's many disciples. I hope she recovers soon and continues serving Spirit Hall."
Golden Bell Douluo sighed. "Both master and disciple are so willing to risk everything. But such desperation also makes one worry whether their bodies can endure it."
Silver Bell Douluo fell silent for a moment before slowly saying, "Perhaps this is their fate. As core figures of Spirit Hall, they bear immense responsibilities."
At that moment, a teasing smile appeared on Golden Bell Douluo's face. "Heh, perhaps once the young master inherits the position of Pope, we will have to start calling the Saintess the Pope's wife."
Silver Bell Douluo was stunned at first, then revealed a meaningful smile as well. "Haha, that really is possible. We can see the young master's little feelings for Saintess Bibi Dong as clear as day."
Golden Bell Douluo nodded. "Exactly. Anyone with eyes can see the young master's special care for the Saintess."
Silver Bell Douluo laughed. "We should be smart about it too. We ought to treat the Saintess with even more respect from now on. Who knows, she may truly become our superior one day."
Golden Bell Douluo agreed. "That's right. The young master's intentions could not be more obvious."
As personal guardian Douluo and Qian Xunji's absolute confidants, how could the two of them not know about that little mess in his heart?
It could only be said that among Spirit Hall's many Titled Douluo, Qian Xunji had chosen only the two of them as his personal guardians. They truly were birds of a feather.
In another palace within Papal Hall, inside an elegantly furnished young woman's room, Bibi Dong forced open her heavy eyelids and stared blankly at the scene before her.
Her delicate brows furrowed. As though she had suddenly remembered something, killing intent flashed through her eyes. Just as she was about to fly into a rage, she discovered, upon circulating her divine power, that her strength had fallen to level fifty.
What was going on? Had she not already become the Rakshasa God? Suddenly, a piercing pain erupted in her head.
Following the earlier spiritual shock, unfamiliar yet strangely familiar memories surged into her mind like a flood.
The first scene that entered her mind was the brutal battle between herself and Asura God Tang San at Jialing Pass. In the end, she was defeated by Tang San and killed. The regret and unwillingness from that moment seemed to still linger in her heart.
Then, the memories flashed past like a revolving lantern. She saw herself being violated by Qian Xunji. The helplessness and fury of that moment had followed her like a shadow, becoming an indelible wound in her heart.
She saw the debt she owed her daughter, Qian Renxue. Because of her own experiences, she had failed to give her daughter enough love and companionship, leaving the mother-daughter relationship complicated and cold.
She also saw Yu Xiaogang. What she had once believed to be beauty and deep affection seemed so hypocritical before reality. His cowardice and incompetence, his retreat at critical moments, and his later exploitation and betrayal had all left her heart riddled with wounds. Those once-sweet memories had now become painful blades that stabbed her again and again.
She saw herself blinded by hatred, doing many things she would later regret. She saw countless lives in Spirit City vanish because of her decisions. Those images were so real that they sent chills down her spine.
Those unbearable memories kept flashing over and over like a revolving lantern, as though she had personally experienced them before.
Bibi Dong knew very well that she had never truly lived through any of it. These painful memories seemed to be the lingering obsessions of another version of herself from a different timeline after her death.
That unwillingness, regret, and pain crossed the boundaries of worlds and struck her soul at this moment. She did not know why these memories had suddenly awakened, but she understood that this might be a warning from fate—a warning not to repeat the same mistakes, a chance to change that terrifying future.
Clearly, Bibi Dong had awakened memories that she should not have awakened. Though those memories were few, they had already made her understand what she needed to do...
