Lu Chen turned Abyss into a refuge with strict rules, repelled the Blackwater Dragon Clan, and sent an expedition to claim the Black Tortoise Sea-Calming Pearl. The expedition returned with Sea Devourer and the Frost Phoenix Lineage seeking shelter, while Lu Chen worried that more clans would arrive.
Lu Chen strengthened Abyss and established rules and defenses as the Dragon, Phoenix, and Qilin clans’ young and wounded sought shelter from the Great Tribulation. As the three clan leaders marched to battle, Abyss prepared to receive the refugees and the story left the Dragon-Han Final Battle underway.
Lu Chen kept Abyss open as the Dragon-Han Cataclysm and Dao-Demon War threatened the Primordial World, sheltering survivors while preparing his Old Shell to bear the Heaven-Mending Death Tribulation. After the clans recovered and Hongjun began teaching at Purple Cloud Palace, Lu Chen used an avatar to study escape and concealment, where Di Jun and Taiyi eventually appeared before him.
Lu Chen kept Abyss independent as Di Jun built the Demon Clan and later the Demon Court, while he prepared his Old Shell Avatar to bear the fate destined for his true body. The arc ended with the Old Shell awakening a Mysterious Black Daoist avatar and a Demon Court marshal arriving to question Abyss’s place in the Ten Thousand Demons Register.
Lu Chen established Abyss’s rules, hosted the Ancestral Witches, and refused a Primordial Unity Saint Position while the Old Shell gained greater fate-bearing power. Nuwa’s visit to Abyss shaped her Creation Dao, and after creating the Human Clan and becoming a Saint, she returned to thank Mysterious Abyss.
Lu Chen’s Old Shell became an independent Mysterious Abyss, while Abyss expanded its Three Lives Post Stations and began sheltering souls. When Ancestor Youquan seized the souls, Lu Chen pursued him and used the Death Law to kill him, leaving Houtu and Abyss to receive the freed dead.
Houtu discovered Reincarnation and established the Six Paths, while Lu Chen’s life-and-death Great Dao grew powerful enough to defeat Minghe’s Blood God Child. At the Thirty-Fourth Post Station, Mysterious Abyss enforced Abyss’s rules against both clans, and Lu Chen killed Demon King Black Crow when he attacked a wounded refugee.
Mysterious Abyss enforced the Three Lives Post Station rules as the Ten Suns Across the Sky drove refugees into the Northern Sea. The sixty-seven stations became a connected refuge network, where clans followed the same rules and Qi Feng arrived to reclaim clans for the Demon Court.
The Ten Golden Crows’ flight scorched the Primordial World, while the Three Lives Post Stations sheltered refugees but barred those still causing the disaster. Hou Yi shot down nine princes before Taiyi intervened, and as the world recovered, Taiyi came to the Three Lives Gate to test Mysterious Abyss’s growing Life and Death Great Dao.
