When he heard the man before him say that he would handle Teach's matter, Ace raised his face, swollen like a Pighead's.
"Who exactly are you?"
From the man's tone, he could tell that this man seemed quite familiar with his old man, as if they had a deep friendship.
Oak glanced at him.
"Didn't I tell you already? My name is Oak!"
Oak explained,
"I used to be on the same ship as Newgate!"
Then Oak asked again, unwilling to let it go.
"Newgate really never mentioned me to you?"
Ace shook his head.
"Never heard of you!"
That made Oak even more displeased.
"Pah~"
What a flimsy brotherhood. That bastard Newgate really never mentioned me at all. How heartbreaking. Are we even friends anymore?
Looks like next time, I'll put the tab on Newgate. I can't keep fleecing Kaido alone, can I?
Thinking of how stingy Newgate was—never paying when he drank, always mooching—Oak came up with a way to "get back" at him. He had to make Newgate cough up a fortune before his resentment could be eased.
"A crewmate from my old man's ship?"
Hearing that Oak had once been Newgate's crewmate, Ace immediately looked over curiously.
Ace knew that his old man had once joined some great pirate crew. He had also apparently heard that Kaido and Big Mom had been on that ship too. But that had been decades ago. Kaido, Big Mom, and his old man were all at least fifty or sixty years old, while his old man was already over seventy.
But how old was the man in front of him?
By Ace's estimate, this man looked about the same age as him, just over twenty.
"How old are you?"
He asked Oak with a strange expression.
"I don't really remember!"
