After Yang Xiong and Yang Wei finished talking, Yang Wei hesitated before speaking. "Little Xiong, how long do you plan to stay in Heaven Dou City this time? You're only eleven, so you still need to be careful while you're out there."
Yang Xiong smiled. "Thank you for your concern, Big Brother. I plan to take a look at the spirit arena and test my true strength."
A trace of nostalgia appeared on Yang Wei's face. "I fought many matches in the spirit arena before. As an Attack System Soul Master, I performed quite well there. Unfortunately, after reaching the Soul Grandmaster realm, I lost many matches in a row and haven't gone much lately."
Yang Wei's martial soul was an Iron Sword, which indeed gave him a certain advantage in attack power. Unfortunately, after reaching the Soul Grandmaster realm, he was now only level thirty-one and had to face Soul Masters at level thirty-eight or thirty-nine. There was practically no hope of victory.
Yang Xiong smiled. "Don't worry, Big Brother. I know my limits. I won't take part in those Life and Death Battles. I'll only go up on the stage for a spar."
Yang Wei nodded. "You've always had your own ideas, Little Xiong, but you still need to pay attention to safety in the arena. Soul Skills have no eyes. Once those people start fighting like madmen, there's no telling what methods they'll use. Any tools are allowed in the arena."
"Oh, right. Why don't you stay at Purple Star Academy these next few days? Then we brothers can train and cultivate together."
Yang Xiong smiled. "Big Brother, our Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect has countless businesses throughout Heaven Dou City. There are more hotels than one can count. I plan to stay directly at a hotel, which will also make it easier to rest and recover."
Yang Wei rolled his eyes at Yang Xiong. "I almost forgot that we're both Inner Sect disciples. You're even a core member the sect is focused on nurturing. Staying at some hotel is naturally no problem. Even finding a villa to live in within Heaven Dou City wouldn't be a problem."
After leaving Purple Star Academy, Yang Xiong directly found a hotel affiliated with the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect. Once the person in charge saw that Yang Xiong was a sect disciple, he immediately arranged the most luxurious top-floor suite for him and did not even charge him.
Yang Xiong was speechless for a moment. It seemed that he was still constantly enjoying the privileges of a sect noble. No wonder those sect disciples had such a strong sense of belonging toward the sect. This attentive service alone was somewhat addictive.
Yang Xiong meditated alone in the hotel. At around seven in the evening, he headed by himself to his destination—the Heaven Dou City Great Spirit Arena, the largest spirit arena in the entire Heaven Dou Empire.
The Great Spirit Arena covered an enormous area and was divided into more than a dozen spirit arenas. Its total spectator capacity likely exceeded one hundred thousand, making it one of the grandest and most famous buildings in all of Heaven Dou City.
After entering the Great Spirit Arena, Yang Xiong carefully learned its rules and prepared to register.
Everyone participating in Soul Duel Competitions would receive a medal. The medal grades were distinguished by the quality of the minerals used. The lowest was the Iron Badge, also known as Iron Soul Duel. Above that came copper, silver, gold, purple gold, sapphire, ruby, and diamond, for a total of eight ranks.
All participants began with an Iron Soul Duel Medal. Advancing from Iron Soul Duel to Copper Spirit required one hundred points. Winning a battle earned one point, while losing one deducted one point accordingly. If one's winning streak exceeded five matches, then every additional consecutive win would add ten points directly. Once the streak exceeded ten matches, each additional victory would add one hundred points. Even after successfully advancing to Copper Spirit upon reaching the required points, one would lose Copper Spirit status if their points fell below one hundred. Advancing from Copper Spirit to Silver Spirit required one thousand points. In battles between Copper Spirits, each victory earned ten points, while each loss deducted ten points. The point bonuses for winning streaks were the same as for Iron Soul Duels.
In other words, to achieve good results in the spirit arena, one needed a winning streak. The more consecutive victories one had, the higher their points would be.
However, Soul Masters were constantly growing. At the Advanced Soul Grandmaster stage, one might be invincible among Soul Grandmasters, but once one entered the Soul Ancestor realm, a low-level Soul Ancestor would immediately have to face high-level Soul Ancestors at level forty-eight or forty-nine. The gap between level forty-one and level forty-nine was enormous.
In particular, one would encounter all kinds of opponents in the spirit arena, with entirely different martial souls and attributes. Some martial souls even naturally countered one another, greatly increasing the difficulty of maintaining a winning streak.
For example, a strength-type Soul Master might possess unrivaled strength among those of the same stage, but if they encountered a Soul Master whose speed far surpassed theirs, they might instead be at a disadvantage.
Normal Soul Masters all had certain specializations. In terms of speed, strength, agility, defense, and other aspects, very few people could develop comprehensively in every area.
The greater differences, however, lay between martial souls. Top-tier Beast Martial Souls and Tool Martial Souls possessed an innate suppressive effect against ordinary Soul Masters. Take the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, for example: the overwhelming majority of beast martial soul masters would suffer a certain degree of suppression when fighting them.
Furthermore, spirit arena matches were generally divided into Wager Battles, Gambling Battles, and Life and Death Battles, with different levels of bloodshed and brutality. The number of participants also varied between one-on-one, two-on-two, and group battles, each with considerable differences.
Yang Xiong went straight to the registration desk to sign up. A staff member quickly handed him a form containing information such as name, Soul Power Level, place of birth, and martial soul. Once he had filled in all the information, an Iron Soul Duel Medal appeared in Yang Xiong's hand. There was even a corresponding number on the back of the medal, essentially linked to each person's information.
There was one more rule: everyone who possessed a Soul Duel Medal did not use their real name in the arena. Instead, they needed to choose an alias, and only the spirit arena knew the personal information corresponding to that alias.
Yang Xiong did not hesitate and directly chose Hegemon of the World as his alias. Although he wanted to cultivate quietly after coming to the Douluo World, he still needed to have some ambitions.
Yang Xiong's alias was swiftly engraved onto the Iron Soul Duel Medal, and his registration was complete.
Yang Xiong immediately signed up for a Wager Battle and quietly waited for the Soul Duel Competition to begin.
A full half hour later, it was finally Yang Xiong's turn to participate in the Soul Duel Competition. He put on a silver mask and followed the directions toward the arena.
This was Yang Xiong's first time participating in a Soul Duel Competition, and he was still somewhat nervous. Although he had come to the spirit arena before, he had only watched matches with his parents. Actually stepping onto the stage was an entirely different feeling.
Especially when Yang Xiong truly approached the arena, his heart grew even more tense. The arena was forty meters long and wide, enough for ordinary Soul Grand Masters to fight with their full strength. This was a standard Soul Grandmaster-level arena.
Countless spectators seemed to be shouting all around him, their voices deafening and loud enough to make his heart tremble with unease.
