My Starter Pokémon

Early in the morning, a crisp and pleasant female voice, like an oriole's song, drifted over. "Good morning, Trainers. Come on in."

"Good morning, Nurse Joy!"

Everyone at the entrance warmly greeted Nurse Joy, who was dressed in an elegant nurse's uniform.

Afterward, the people at the entrance began lining up to enter the Pokémon Center. Xinhai followed his father, Yantai Bai Mu, inside.

Once inside, they saw that Nurse Joy was not at the Pokémon Center's front desk today. Instead, there was a pretty nurse there. Nurse Joy said to the parents with children, "Parents here to collect starter Pokémon, please follow me."

With that, she headed toward the back.

The parents followed with their children, leaving behind only the envious people in the lobby who were there to have their Pokémon treated.

Nurse Joy led everyone to the doors of three rooms. Each door bore a type emblem: Water, Fire, or Grass.

There was someone guarding each door, and beside the three rooms stood an office desk with a computer on it.

When they arrived, Nurse Joy said, "Parents, you will enter the rooms in order to choose Pokémon. Once you enter a room to choose a Pokémon, you may not enter again. While the children are selecting their Pokémon, the parents must remain outside."

The parents and children nodded to show they understood.

"Alright, let's begin." Seeing this, Nurse Joy sat down at the desk and began operating the computer with practiced ease.

After seeing Nurse Joy sit down at the desk, Yantai Bai Mu led Xinhai forward. Nurse Joy smiled at Xinhai and asked, "Little brother, your name?"

Xinhai replied, "Hello, Nurse Joy. My name is Xinhai Bai Mu."

After entering his information, Nurse Joy looked Xinhai over once more and smiled gently. "Alright, Xinhai. Go on in and collect your starter Pokémon."

"Thank you, Nurse Joy!" Xinhai said with a smile and a bow.

Xinhai then entered the room marked with the Fire-type emblem. The room was simply furnished, containing only a desk, a computer, seven Poké Balls neatly arranged on the desk, and a large bed.

The most eye-catching sight in the room was the seven Pokémon standing on the bed. They were small, covered in orange-yellow feathers, and looked just like adorable chicks. Their round eyes curiously examined Xinhai.

"Chamo~ (๑• . •๑)"

Beside the bed stood a long-haired beauty in her twenties wearing a white lab coat. She was also studying the boy who had entered.

"My name is Lihua Zhu Ben. I'm in charge of handing out Torchic today," the long-haired beauty introduced herself with a smile.

Xinhai looked at her and sweetly smiled. "Big sister, you're really pretty!"

Lihua Zhu Ben looked delighted by Xinhai's compliment and said with a smile, "Choose your favorite from among the seven Torchic on the bed. If there's anything you don't understand, feel free to ask me."

Xinhai was overjoyed to hear that. Smiling, he bowed to Lihua Zhu Ben. "Thank you, Sister Zhu Ben."

Xinhai looked at the seven Torchic before him. After carefully approaching the bed and calming the little ones, he began examining them one by one.

Lihua Zhu Ben watched Xinhai's movements the entire time. Seeing how skilled he was, her eyes filled with approval, and she could not help nodding to herself.

A few minutes later, Xinhai had carefully inspected every Torchic and rapidly reviewed the details he had observed in his mind.

He quickly came to a rough conclusion, then carefully observed each Torchic's demeanor and expression as he thought to himself, Judging from the leg muscles of these seven Torchic, only two of them should have Speed Boost. The rest most likely have Blaze.

All seven Torchic are developing quite well. As expected of starter Pokémon distributed by the League.

Having chosen his target, Xinhai's gaze settled on the sixth Torchic. The corners of his mouth lifted as he smiled. "It's you."

As he spoke, Xinhai scooped up the still somewhat bewildered Torchic.

Watching this, Lihua Zhu Ben smiled and asked, "Are you sure you want this one?"

Xinhai looked at Lihua Zhu Ben with a serious expression and said firmly, "Sister Zhu Ben, I'm sure it's this one." As he spoke, he raised the Torchic in his arms high over his head.

Hearing Xinhai's confirmation, Lihua Zhu Ben smiled. "Alright. This is this Torchic's Poké Ball. From now on, it's your starter Pokémon."

As she spoke, she handed Xinhai one of the Poké Balls on the desk.

"Torchic, are you willing to become my Pokémon?" Xinhai asked as he held out the Poké Ball to the Torchic, which had recovered and was now happily fluttering about.

The Torchic, happily kicking its two little legs, pressed its head against the Poké Ball when it heard that. "Chamo~"

A flash of red light passed, and Torchic was drawn into the Poké Ball.

Seeing Torchic enter the Poké Ball, Xinhai happily shouted, "I caught Torchic!"

The other Torchic all showed disappointed expressions at the sight. Xinhai, who had been immersed in joy, calmed down when he saw their dejected faces. He walked over and stroked the remaining six Torchic to comfort them. "Alright, don't be so sad. Your Trainers are waiting outside for you. They'll come take you home soon too."

"Chamo~ Chamo~"

After Xinhai's comfort, the Torchic were still somewhat downcast, but they were much better. One Torchic even haughtily turned its head away, and Xinhai reached over to pat its head as well.

Lihua Zhu Ben was both happy and surprised by the sight, and she could not help feeling touched by the boy's temperament.

Seeing that it was about time, Lihua Zhu Ben gently reminded him, "Alright, Xinhai. You've already chosen your Pokémon. It's time to go out."

Xinhai looked at Lihua Zhu Ben and obediently replied, "Okay, Sister Zhu Ben. I'll be ready right away."

After saying that, he released Torchic.

"Torchic, say goodbye to your partners. We're leaving."

Hearing that, Xinhai's Torchic walked over on its little legs and said goodbye to its companions one by one. The other Torchic also began bidding Xinhai's Torchic farewell.

Only that haughty Torchic sat off to the side. It did not stand until Xinhai's Torchic came to its side alone, then patted Xinhai's Torchic on the shoulder with its little wing before leaving.

Lihua Zhu Ben watched the warm scene without interrupting.

Once the Torchic had finished saying goodbye, Xinhai picked up the Torchic that had come to his side and said to Lihua Zhu Ben, "Sister Zhu Ben, we'll be going now. Thank you." He bowed again after speaking.

Lihua Zhu Ben smiled. "Goodbye, Xinhai. I hope we'll have another chance to meet."

Xinhai waved goodbye. "Goodbye, Sister Zhu Ben."

Watching Xinhai's retreating back, Lihua Zhu Ben sighed emotionally. "What a gentle boy." As she spoke, she recorded this in Xinhai's file.

After leaving the room, Xinhai carried Torchic to Nurse Joy and said, "Nurse Joy, I've made my choice. This is my partner, Torchic. Torchic, hurry and say hello to Nurse Joy."

Torchic looked at the familiar, gentle big sister and said, "Chamo, chamo~"

Nurse Joy smiled and greeted Xinhai and Torchic. "Hello, Xinhai and Torchic."

As she spoke, she picked up the already programmed Pokédex and five Poké Balls from the desk.

"Trainer Xinhai, all your information has been transferred. Make sure to keep these safe. Your Pokédex can serve as proof of identity outside, so be sure to take good care of it!"

As Nurse Joy handed the Pokédex to Xinhai, she patiently explained the various precautions he needed to take.

"Thank you, Nurse Joy. Don't worry, I'll be careful."

Xinhai put the Pokédex into his pocket. After bowing to thank Nurse Joy, he met up with his father, Yantai, and headed outside.

Seeing Yingnan approach, he gave him a gesture. After seeing him nod, Xinhai quickened his pace to catch up with his father, Yantai.

Under everyone's envious gazes, Xinhai and his father left the Pokémon Center. Xinhai looked up at his father and asked, "Dad, are we going to the police station now?"

Yantai Bai Mu smiled. "That's right. You're already twelve years old, and you've received your starter Pokémon and Pokédex. Once we get your League ID card, everything will be settled."

He then took Xinhai, who was playing with his Pokédex, to the police station.

Yantai Bai Mu brought Xinhai to the entrance of the police station, opened the door, and said, "Hello, we're here to apply for a League ID card."
