After checking out at the Pokémon Center's front desk, Xinhai carried Eevee out of Lavaridge Town and headed to the outskirts.
The sunlight was just right, spilling across the majestic slopes of Mt. Chimney. Plumes of geothermal steam curled up in the distance, and the air carried the distinctive mingled scent of sulfur and vegetation.
"Everyone, come on out! We're heading into the mountains!"
Xinhai glanced at the blazing sun overhead and released Blaziken, Gardevoir, Zigzagoon, Sandile, and the newly joined Charmander.
"Roar!" (I'm ready, Xinhai!) Charmander puffed out its little chest. The flame on its tail burned especially brightly, and its large orange eyes shone with anticipation and a hint of nervousness for its first wilderness experience.
Xinhai walked over to Charmander, crouched down, and gently patted its smooth head. "Charmander, this is your first time out in the wild."
"Remember, stay close to the team. Listen to Gardevoir and the others, and don't rush ahead. If we run into a battle, follow orders and keep yourself safe."
"Roar!" (Understood!) Charmander nodded vigorously, its gaze serious.
"Alright, let's go!" Xinhai rose to his feet and led his partners along an uneven trail worn down by passing Trainers and hikers, beginning their ascent toward Mt. Chimney's summit.
The initial slope was fairly gentle. The surrounding vegetation consisted of dense heat-resistant woods and shrubs, while the air was much fresher than in town, with the scent of plants softening the sulfur odor.
"Keep formation and stay alert," Xinhai said as he watched the rugged path beneath his feet.
Blaziken walked at the front, steadily clearing the way, its sharp eyes sweeping over the forest ahead and on both sides.
Zigzagoon and Sandile kept watch farther out to the left and right. Eevee and Charmander followed excitedly at Xinhai's side, while Gardevoir
